Thats a box hatchet from back when tea came in crates.
the head off a maul that nearly konked me after flying off. Just finished putting a new handle on it.

it's a Canadian tire special Mastercraft 4.
I find the ugly is the somewhat splintered handle that is held together with duct tape, I fully expect this to fail on me any day but it keeps going.
once up on a time Mastercraft was a solid mid range tool brand, made in Canada and the USA. They started sourcing their shit from china about 15-20 years ago but if you can find the old shit it is often fairly well made.
