Just to give you guys an update as you may or may not remember.
The tree without roots is making a miraculous recovery. This is after cutting off virtually all the foliage and most of its limb, applying rooting hormone and keeping the thing based with fertilizer.
About one month ago I had to remove this tree from the landscaping. Because it was growing in a rock bed I had to cut away 99% of its roots to free it from the soil. It basically had its main root "tail" and nothing else. Lots of anons said it was going to die, but a few said it could be saved.
This is after extreme pruning. All those leaves have died off but new growths appeared in their place.
I remember you OP, good for you. By the way, that root tail is called the tap root. Did you give it a name or anything? I'm rooting for Woodrow Crabtree personally.
