Hey diy need help with some technical electronic stuff. Not my area of expertise. I need to reduce the inrush current on my refrigerator or freezer and a 5000 btu AC. I also would like to reduce the inrush current on a 2 hp motor that opens a large hangar door.
This is so it will run on a 2000 watt inverter.

I did read about hard start capacitor kits and while they are cheap I'm not sure if they reduce current or not. I think they might just reduce how long the surge is.

They just shift the current peak, tried them out at my work and they did fuck all.
We're trying to get inverter motor drives for our compressors

Sounds like what you need is a few soft starters. If you're lucky there are ones made specifically for the motors you're using. If not, it will take some figuring to determine what exactly you'll need.

I see, soft start kit is it. expensive though.
