So I've finally done it to myself... Got a tiny stripped screw on my laptop trying to get to hard drive. YouTube is full of idiots or people with soldering irons. How can I unfuck myself?
>>
Grind a slot in it. Do it in small bursts or it will get hot enough to melt the plastic.
>>
INB4 rubber bands, melted pen tops and cutting a slot in it with a dremel

Sorry I didn't make it clear. I have very, very basic tools. Small screwdriver set that did the damage.
>>
>>1198976
First of all, get a screwdriver set that doesn't suck. If it doesn't fit perfectly, you're setting yourself up for a stripped screw.

Second of all, http://lmgtfy.com/?q=screw+extractor

Then its time to rectify that first.

The screwdriver set is cheap, but the metal the screw is made of us far cheaper. Just crumbled and before I knew it I had done a number on myself.
>>
depending on whether the plan is to save it, use super glue/epoxy and glue a bit in there, wait, and unscrew

Glue velcro to screw. Opposite velcro stapled on a wood scrap or something. Turn.

You're wrong.
It has very little to do with the shitty Chinesium and everything to do with the screwdriver set you're using, and your ability to use it properly.

Chinesium may be soft, but it isn't so soft as to strip at the force it takes to torque it out of position. If it does strip, it was not designed to be removed, and probably has high temperature threadlocker applied.

This is the set of bits that I use. You'll be hard pressed to find a cheaper equivalent set on Amazon--it's the only one that has a variety of bits and not just five copies of the same size. It's made by a company known for quality and precision. If you STILL strip screws, you will know that you specifically are doing something wrong.

>>
>>1199167
As a side note, I have never stripped a screw on removal. Only a handful of times on insertion due to over-torqueing. So yeah. Stripped screws, always your fault.
Even bigass rusted or corroded screws, always your fault.
>>
>>1199162
You can still slot those. It is those deep well ones that you can't slot in that manner.
>>
>>1199172
>use Phillips on a screw, it fits perfectly
>turn the screwdriver
>the screwhead gets gouged out like it was made of putty

or

>tfw the screw unscrews so easily then you realize the head broke off

Some screws are just shit. I've had both happen to screws I just installed and needed to remove for whatever reason. The worse offenders are deck screws for the heads tearing off (Robertson obviously) or grinding out (Robertson+Phillips hybrid shit.) I finally started using stainless steel deck screws and never looked back. They are expensive as fuck though.
>>
>>1199198
Why screws instead of nails on your deck? My deck was nailed so when I started replacing some of the decking I stuck with nails.
>>
>>1199027
>and its jew fag
use stick and stone fgt
>>
>>1199200
screws are more convenient to use if you have an impact driver, nails resist lateral movement better than a screw, where a screw will just snap, a nail will bend.

Tap a razor with a small hammer to dig into screw and turn it. I have used this trick many times.
>>
>>1199213
Fair enough, I only have a standard drill so I just drill the guide holes then hammer down the decking nails.
>>
Ez outs. Get the small one.

The reason I use screws for everything now is because I can undo it easily if needed without needing a cat's claw. One drill is for pilot holes; one impact drill is for installing screws. Things go along really quickly.

>>1198971
Melt the head of a bic pen, shove it in there, and use alot of force.

great idea, anon
why not just take the blowtorch out at that point?
>>

Impact screwdriver.
>>
Im amazed the plastic isnt all fucked up. May aswell spot weld the driver directly to the screw.
>>
>>1198971
TIG weld a steel rod to it
>>
Cold weld a drill bit to the bolt and let it set.
Drill goes on drill holdy part.
Unscrew your screw up.
