I have a stupid question, so I thought I'd ask DIY!
Can you drain a small segments of a swamp while keeping the surrounding water intact? Is it possible to wall off an area with canvas or tarp, and pump the water out? Has anyone heard or believe in this crazy idea?

You can either reclaim a portion by building the land upwards or do it your way. Your way would have to seal the underneath as well like a reverse swimming pool to stop groundwater seeping back up
