What to do with all these wood blanks? Some of them have a little spalting. I cut them to make my own paint brushes but it's very hard to /diy/ ferrule and there isn't good online instruction on how to. Besides stupid "get stick tie fur to stick, done" the widest ones are like 1 3/4 inch..
Maybe someone has little DIY woodwork plans. I don't wanna toss them because it came from a log that was pretty special to me.

Are they good enough to sell as gun stock blanks?

Ummmm.. They are like 1/4th inch thick. And widest are 1 3/4" they are small! Haha. I do know where a huge piece of live oak that's splated lives that could be used as a gunstock probably.. But I'd need to buy a chainsaw because I only have an electric one and this big piece is in the woods on the ground. Maybe I'll get a picture tomorrow.

The ferrule doesn't matter much. The vulcanized rubber or epoxy is what holds the bristles.
Also, more important than the ferrule is the origin of the bristles themselves, and the way they are oriented.

But for making fan brushes the furrel helps doesn't it?
