Anyone know where I can get a one-off EEPROM programming done?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Anyone know where I can get a one-off EEPROM programming done?

My Kawai synth firmware needs to be written to a 27SF512, and buying a programmer for $100 just to program a single ROM seems dumb

See if you can find one of the SST rewriteables, wire it on a breadboard with your micro of choice.

Thanks for the idea. I have nary an arduino etc to play with tho

Any college electronics lab would have multiple pic/eeprom programmer. Email one of the teachers and see if their game to help.

Unfortunately the town is too small for any electronics labs.
The local auto shops don't have either. No ECU tuners in town apparently

Looking for a reasonable online resource if possible

An arduino clone on aliexpress or any Chinese shopping site for $2-3

Last time I had to burn a parallel EEPROM the easiest option was to hook some shift registers up to an arduino on a breadboard and just write really slowly.

If you can't program or /ohm/ then your best bet is to call every local maintenance company in the phone book and keep asking until you find some poor bastard still maintaining something that hasn't moved onto serial EEPROMs.

You could ask in the anycpu.org forum where a lot of old timers hang out, people who program 40 year old 8-bit computers and typically need EEPROM programming to get the job done.

One of them might live close to you and assist.
