Hey all, first time posting here not sure if this is the right spot but hoping it fits. I have a couple truckloads of windows with aluminum frames. I have taken the frames off of some of them and sold them for scrap. However, I still have plenty left and the screws are hard to remove, tried using a screwdriver and a drill with no luck. I busted the glass out of several of them but it is time consuming and makes a mess. What can I do to loosen these screws in order to get them out?

Heat them with a blowtorch for a bit and unscrew them while the metal is expanded. Or maybe just drill the heads off and pull them apart.

Impact driver and suitable bit?

If you're getting rid of "truckloads" of scrap, they shouldn't raise a fuss about some screws or pieces of leftover glass...

Melt it all down and remove the screws from the crucible while it is all liquid

I worked for two years at a scrapyard classifying/pricing metal scrap among other things.
If you can't get the glass out or if it contains significant amounts of rubber or foam insulation, removing the screws probably isn't going to get you a better price. If the aluminium is otherwise pristine though, removing the screws can increase the value significantly. If you have an oxyacetylene torch you can just melt the area where the screw is fastened and pull it out with a long pair of pliers, I used to do this all the time. Clean, extruded aluminium profiles in particular fetch a high scrap price compared to other aluminium products.

I'm a commercial glazier, sometimes I'll do tear out work and keep the scrap.
Soak the screws with PB blaster then use an impact with a quality tip.
Or just cut it up with a compound miter saw and/or circular saw with a bimetal blade. Try to only cut the aluminum though, instead of anything steel, that takes a different blade.
