You must be high right now

You need a squirrel cage blower instead. Something that can produce sufficient static pressure. Axial fans are terrible at that.

Then you need a high efficiency filter, preferably with activated charcoal. Cabin air filters for cars are a cheap, readily-available commodity filter.

120mm blowers are ~$20, Honda Civic cabin filters (with charcoal) are ~$15 for a 2-pack. Build your airbox out of a plastic storage bin, or whatever's handy.

You can have the fan either suck into the filter (my suggestion) or exhaust through it. I think you'll have better luck with a larger intake, though, since smoke spreads out a lot.


I built a large version of this with a fireplace blower for 12x24x1 furnace filters. It works a treat, and I don't have to pay for proprietary air cleaner filters. I don't smoke, I just have a thing for indoor air quality.

Make your own sploof. I poked some holes in the bottom of a soda bottle, dropped a crumpled paper towel to the bottom, to soak up drool. Then I filled it with a dozen crumpled dryer sheets, and I always exhale through it. Done and done. And that's a pretty damn complex sploof. Some people swear by just rubber banding a dryer sheet over a paper towel tube.
