Hey /diy/. Is there anything cool I can build out of a dismantled computer and >$100?

>cool
no
A table

The PSU can be useful for powering stuff. Connect green to any black to turn it on.
If there's an optical drive, it may have a high power laser diode you can take out if you don't want to buy one.

>not tiling your floor with old CPUs and covering them with transparent epoxy
Make coasters from hdd disks
Reassembling the computer and using the $100 to buy tools, guns and shirt shorts.

Gold harvesting (which isn't very cost efficient by itself)
So not really no.

PSU for cheap lab power supply

HDD into persistence of vision display
alternatively, there are really neat neodymium magnets inside the HDD

of course, how else?

He said $100 not $10,000. That shit be expensive as it is cool anon. Good lookin out tho. My little mancave could use this.

buy a bunch of fried CPUs in bulk and put them in a counter top
You may find some of the components useful for some RPi or Arduino projects. Some cables, resistors etc.

I've done this but beware they slide around easy and will scratch some surfaces
Take platters from hard drives and make the coolest ass mirror money can't buy, but trash can.
The older the hdd the better, you can find 3+ platter ones
Yeah, a functional example of the computer you ruined.

I made an (ugly) set of wind chimes out of platters before. Different brands and ages had different thickness platters so the tones were different.
Someone better at art could probably make one that looks good.

take the laser diode out of disc drive and make a burning laser.
wear sunglasses, they can blind.
