Post the best listing on your local craigslist. It's hard to find tools at low prices, but on craigslist you can find local tools for cheap!

my local craigslist is like finding a needle in the haystack. Retarded people wanting to mutch money for old shit.
>>1189314
It always seems mostly to be people wanting full or 90% of the original price for something 8 years old.
>>1189315
>brand new
>MSRP - a few percent
no nigger, i'm not risking getting shot or a non returnable item.
>>1189315
This.
My rule is: if the item's more than a couple of years old, then buy/sell at half the original price.

Seems like a good time. More materials than tools though

These posts just remind me that retirement planning is important... because it seems like ever fucking car mechanics retirement plan is to sell muh toolbox whichn has 30 years of top o the line tools and is worth 30k but I'll let it go for 18...

those are two contradictory statements
there are a lot of things on there, but most of it is junk or over priced....the good deals are rare

Almost forgot.
No lowballers

You can find good deals if your willing to both check it regularly a few times a day, and know what your buying.. last Saturday I got probably a hundred or so bucks worth of mixed pvc fittings from the free section.. seem to have good luck with "broken chainsaw/lawn gear". Bought a craftsman push style lawn vac for 30$ because its owner didn't understand how to make a gas engine work... found a decent set of oxy acetylene torches with tanks and a carrier missing the cutting tip (had the wielding tip) for 110$ but only because I caught it about half an hour after it posted and had cash on hand for it... had pretty good luck with Bosch 12v stuff generally you can get a tool and battery for about 40~50$ with a charger.. the new replacement batteries are 50$ each in the store... Craigslist just takes patience and knowledge of what your buying...
Maybe the Grand Rapids Craigslist is just better?

I use the rss feeds to get notifications for every posting, and apply filters
the items I do want are usually in poor/not working condition or are for more than what a new tool would cost at HF
12" Drillpress, only asking $200???
https://gulfport.craigslist.org/tls/6131260819.html
Disregard the crack, the dude's assuring us it runs great. Googling the model number doesn't turn up much, so you know despite the clearly printed "MADE IN CHINA," that it's one of those old discontinued brick shithouse gems from back when tools were made to last.
Sears will ship you their junky 2017 12" drill press for a king's ransom of $218, or you could invest in this true workhorse.
Is that site useful for more than gay sex?

Fuck everyone who uses CL in the greater grand rapids area.
I went to buy a scroll saw.
Got there, it not only wasn't the same saw in the photos, it was a 16" instead of a 18."
Went to look at a car, he sent me a bunch of photos and stuff. Car was mint. I shown up to check it out, it's missing two wheels and the hood has a hole rusted through it.
Every damn time it's the same thing.
Fucking polacks, man.
Couple of good ones from Columbia, SC
https://columbia.craigslist.org/tls/6167666071.html
Used Harbor Freight reciprocating saw for $6 less than new.

25+ year old dehumidifier, but it's only been used "two or three times" for $40

4 old crescent wrenches foe $125. Can't read the maker, but they're "vintage"
>>1192492
And by good, I meant completely retarded
Found a brand new Bridgeport for $600 that was "two years old, but [poster's] dad just passed and I don't want to have to pay someone to haul it away"
I was in an apartment at the time dealing with some bullshit or I would have driven overnight to get it. I kick myself every time I think about it.
>>1189579
They ask high knowing the market stays fairly strong, but usually end up parting out and remember cash always talks.
IDGAF what people ask, 'cuz "ask" ain't "get". People hate turning down dead Presidents.
>>1192492
I pull a lot of good shit out of SC garage sales, estate sales and business liquidations though. Craigslist yielded lathes and mills for self and bros, welders, motorcycles, tools, consumables and more.
The idiots are always there. If they annoy me I flag them.
