So I found this corpse in the woods a couple of weeks ago, probably a straight cat I dunno.

I think that the skull might look cool on mi desk but i don't know how to get ride of the rotten skin and flesh.

Any ideas?

After 3 weeks it looks the same so it might take a while to disintegrate by itself.

I have other skulls of a dog and some birds but I found them kinda "clean" so I don't know what to do with this one.

there are plenty of guides online. Jake's Bones is one written by a 10 year old kid if you want the simple answers.

Usually cleaning skulls involves boiling the skulls in a degreaser/water mix. This might be a problem for you though because it's going to stink to high hell if you throw a rotting corpse into boiling water.

You can use this guys method, obviously skipping the mounting parts. He's using deer skulls, but it's pretty much the same thing no matter what you use.

i have experience, although over 5 years ago.
put it in a tub !!!not an aluminium one!!! with plenty water to fully submerge and add a generous amount of drain cleaner (make shure atleast 90% Sodium hydroxide). How long it takes varies quite a bit so check every 10-15 minutes at first and then decide how much time you will wait for the checks after that.

biggest downsides are the horrible smell and that the bones will dissolve if left in for to long (bones take much longer than the soft tissue tho) so check regularly and good luck whith the smells

put it on an ant nest
>>
>>1185375
Thanks I'll check it

It's weird it doesn't stink, it's kinda dry and I just want the head, something torn apart the body. As I live next to the woods the smell will not be a problem.

There are not many ant nest around here

Raise a colony of dermestid beetles.
>buy starter pack off eBay (make sure they have good reviews)
>line plastic storage box with styrofoam
>throw beetles and corpse in box
>???
>profit

I've done this with snakes. It works pretty well for getting clean bones. The rot provably discolored the skeleton, though, so you'll need to clean it with hydrogen peroxide when it's bare.
Probably worth hitting it with some clear coat after the peroxide.

I like to just submerge animals skulls in a bucket of plain water. I change the water once a week and pick off loose pieces of skin (you have to pull the skin off) and flesh. Rinsing the skull helps, too. I prefer the look of unbleached bone. It is a more meticulous process, but I always get compliments on the rich ecru color of my skulls.

>No tools
Elitist bullshit. Doing a lot with a little embodies the /diy/ spirit. OP just needs to state what's available.
>Hydrophonics
There's been some great hydro threads. Still thinking of trying some green peppers after seeing someones results about a year ago.
>Arduino
Some interesting stuff. Posts here got me interested in them in the first place. They're not all "have this, wat do"
>no money
Ingenuity makes for a far more interesting thread than someone throwing money at a problem. Again, doing a lot with a little is the /diy/ spirit
>3d printing
Interesting stuff. Thinking about getting one myself because of posts here. Posters in the general are helpful and informative.
>no skills
More elitist bullshit. Gotta start somewhere. A skilled anon doesn't need help. Some of us are here to help others.
>unsafe, stupid, illegal, or crazy
No fun allowed? There's a little Red Green in all /diy/ers
>How much will this cost
Some anon might need a ballpark figure to see if they want to do something or not. If it's something they're unfamilliar with, they could spend a lot of time searching and still miss something important. Someone that's done it before can be quite helpful.

Here's something to add to that shit image though...

i'm trying to think of a single time this was ever posted since /diy/ was added as a board that i thought it was good or productive or added anything of value or was even slightly amusing. and i'm coming up blank.

Leave the corpse next to an anthill.

Not red ants though.

Oh that cat was a total faggot. I can tell... OP probably has aids now.

Boil in a pot outside, bleach, or set on an ant hill or hang in a tree for ants
>>
>>1185373
1. put the skull on an ants nest
2. ants eat away rotten flesh
3. you grab the skull and clean it off with some sanitizer and stuff
4...
5. profit

I just leave them out to decompose, then dumb them in 12% Hydrogen Peroxide.

I make plaster casts after that.
