Can satin be used for green screen or is too hard to light it properly?

I'd think the gloss would throw off the chroma keying but never tried it so can't say for sure. Would be relativity easy to test.

The other anon is right. You don't want gloss because any point of light will have a highly specular response off of the material
Proper green screen materials are smooth and matte so that light hitting it is diffuse

If you already have some, test it with OBS.

just buy some green paper at kinkos you derp.

Contrary to your first two replies, I don't think satin is impossible to use but I sure as shit wouldn't buy it. As long as you get it taut and there's zero wrinkles, I don't see why not as long as you set your chroma key right

it's not just that the fabric is taught. But the light reflecting off of the glossy surface from point lights will be specular in nature which makes chroma keying even more difficult to do.

After SIGGRAPH 2017, it's pretty much a solved problem.

The Nuke plugin isn't available yet, but all of the information you need to reproduce the technique is there.

do you already have it? if so, try some matte spray from a rattle can
Thanks guys. I bought some yesterday without thinking too much. I'm new to keying. Will test it sometime these days along with other materials.
