Didn't know where else to post this.
I was growing my own lettuce and tomatoes and some of the leaves have started looking weird. They get plenty of light and water. Any ideas?

My guess is that I used too much fertilizer.
>>1182664
possibly too much sun or heat. it is probably nutrient deficiency , possibly nitrogen (either too little nutes or so much that your lettuce stopped taking nutes from the soil). a less likely cause could be mold. plants can be a pain to diagnose.

also, look up nute burn, sounds about right from what you are saying. are you using organic nutes or chemicals? chemicals can be really harsh on plants if you over feed them
>>1182674
I'm using some organic stuff. Basically dehydrated manure and such.
You could be right about the sun. I've had them outside in the shade for about 4 hours every day for a week and ended leaving them out in the sun all day by accident a few days ago.

probably sun then, if you are not feeding your plants through watering then i wouldnt worry about the nutes if they have been doing fine until this point.

Gotcha. Thanks. I'll make sure to keep them in the shade from now on.

You need to "harden off" the plants much longer, before putting them outside.

I thought you hardened off plants BY putting them outside.

If you're watering daily, it's probably root rot. It's a common problem for new gardeners, and even experienced gardeners who grow in pots.
Don't water again until the pot feels nearly weightless, then when you do water, add a tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide to each litre of water and flood the shit out of them (once, then wait for them to droop again). After three waterings like this, stop using hydrogen peroxide and start adding soil probiotic.
t. ex pot-farmer.
You pot farmers are fucking weird and overkill. That's coming from a 2 O a month smoking organic gardener.

>permanently outside
Use a shade cloth as well.

yeah I noticed that while searching for information on hydroponic growing. everything for the marijuana growers had to be done in a sterile room wearing gloves and bleaching equipment and blah blah blah. more sterile than an operating room.

A little bleach on your knife isn't nearly as sterile as an OR, but I get what you mean.
OP your plants look tight except for 1) tomato bottom leaves are yellowing and, 2) tomato and (romaine?) lettuce bottom leaves are turning white then crinkly brown from the bottom up.
On 1. this looks like either too much salt or not enough available nitrogen. I'm going to guess nitrogen deficiency since tomatoes are N whores and you're probably not a novice salting them to death with tap water, see one of mine in pic doing the same. Either wait and see if they turn around and find N in the compost as it breaks down or use compost tea or another liquid additive. Leave your 'maters in FULL ASS sun though, they like it. Just really keep them watered.
On 2. I've never seen this, but it doesn't look like root rot. Check your nitrate/nitrite levels in your system and try the shade cloth I guess.
