I've had a previous post on here asking people how I should lay out my room.

I've managed to design a layout. Pic relevant. All my furniture will be built by me. Im thinking I can do this with a chop saw, a hand drill, hammer+nails, and a dremel.

I've put up the 3d models for this on Autodesk360 http://a360.co/2rzL9P0 for illustrations sake. Just right click hide selected on the cube to get rid of the walls.

I'd like people on here's input before I go out and start building. Any ways to utilise the space better or anything like that.

So, what do you think /diy/?

Any ideas like this chest of drawers I've designed for all my commonly used items/electronics, that could double as a work surface or be moved around for different uses depending on situation.
I plan on using the top shelf on the desk for my 3D printer and a snake tank.
My Pc will be on the open area and I'll probably set up my soldering/electronics/diy setup on the bit under the shelf.
The bed is pretty much final design except I might add a head board/foot board, or just a beam across to stop the mattress from sliding up/down. The desk idea is done, just might tweak around positioning of beams/legs as that was just done quickly.

screws not nails, you'll have to take that bullshit apart and don't want it falling on you
what the fuck do you want a dremel for
just live with 6 bins up top instead of 7 so that you can easily get to all of them and build your loft to only need to support them in one orientation
that's a fuckload of furniture for a closet
I'd put the loft above the desk and use the bed for siting at the desk
>>
>snake tank
build a melamine and plexi enclose into the desk, it'll be better in every way

Yeah, the nails were more for the desk (holding the back board). Bed is definately all screws. Dremel will really only be used to cut out whatever woodboard I decide to use for the desk, and maybe some sanding.

The top was just a demo, I wanted to see how many I could fit, and I've kept the bottom of the loft consisting of just beams rather than closed off so I can push it out if I need anything thats in deep store.

The "closet" is gonna be for electronics storage. I might just buy the drawers but build the chasis for it cause otherwise itll be too boring and repetitive. Thanks for that actually, hadnt considered it till now :)

I tried doing that but my ceiling is 2.2m high, so It would have been a bit short, and I need somewhere for my 3d printer, snakes and possibly a 50inch LCD panel that I might get donated.

Thats actually a good idea. Would cleaning it be difficult though? Should I make it removable in that case?

>>1179904
I already have a tank btw. Is it worth building it into the desk in that case?
>>
>>1179914
tank size & snake species?
>>
>>1179926
Hog nose and Corn snake. Still quite young, about a year old. Tanks around 30cmx30cm, and 60x60. Going to need to upgrade one of them into something like a RUB next year anyway.
>>

if you want to throw them in tubs that's be fine too, but build that in too. with a thing you built you could stack them because hogs don't have much use for height and corns can't get enough (or buy tall and short tubs with the same footprint. you're already building a desk and you've got a soldering station right there, it'd be piss easy to flexwatt and led strip some really excellent habitats up.

10/10, would murder a swede to be sent to this jail cell.

I'll definately consider that. I have the horizontal and vertical space for it. I'll design the shelf to be able to do that in the future. Thanks :)
