Just bought this monitor mount for my new computer, but it keeps tipping forward if the arms are anywhere close to extended. I know I need a counterweight, but any ideas on what I could use? Circumference is about 5 inches.

Yeah, that is not going to go horribly wrong. Use the right tool for the job. Return the thing and get one that attaches to the desk or at the very least, has a wider base.

how about something like this holding the mount down to the table?
maybe not in yellow though

This, or use Elmer's glue to glue the base down.

Did you check how much weight the stand can hold? You might be overloading it. Otherwise try using a ziplock bag of sand on top of the base or mold some lead and glue it under the base

>Did you check how much weight the stand can hold?
I'm using a pair of 6.6 pound monitors, and it's advertised as holding up to 22 pounds/arm.
Good idea on the sand/lead though.

Just get a fucing brick

can you put unscrew that center pole and put a bolt through the desk and that weighted base?

Shoulda got a clamped stand. They work much better
The model I bought came with a clamp that goes under the back and under the desk to hold it in place. Maybe one like this or two to keep it thight to the desk.

c-clamp is the best advice so far. You can literally get them at the dollar store.

OP, why didn't you /diy/ a multi monitor stand?

>I don't really have the tools for any diy projects
Now you have an excuse to start.
Plus it's handy to have a decent small set of tools. Saves on the wallet.

>OP, why didn't you /diy/ a multi monitor stand?
Because all /diy/ stands are expensive and very cumbersome compared to the stands that you can just buy.
I have a chinese stand like OP, but its for 3 monitors and it clamps. Its rock solid and it was relatively cheap. OP should have gotten the clamp version, the big ugly feet are shit
Get a better monitor stand from a better brand

Pic related, I have their 1x3 stand

>monitor stand that takes up space on your desk

Yeah, in the end I bit the bullet, drilled a hole in my desk, and did this.
It was a little more work than the weighted stand, but it's much better now.
