>>1164603
Lol. Nice.
>>1164605
i fucking hate cement! but if you have good castings, maybe. now get out.
>>1164603
Well fuck me sideways. This is great work anon.
>>1164633
but is it goat
>>1164640
Well memed
>>1164605
I would guess. I watched a guy muscle 10 of them onto a trailer at $1,400 each. Hes rich af tho...
>>1164609
Lol, wtf is wrong with cement. Make silicone mold, layers with fibgerglass, pour and sell.
>>1164651
beyond unaesthetic it is
>>1164603
what kind of stone were all your things made of?
>>1164805
it's just a white limestone, nothing fancy or expensive like marble or onyx
>>1164653
Hell, you can mix it smooth and paint it or stain it to mimic stone. I see whay you mean tho. And i am enjoying yalls work. I can get white limestone boulders or shitty yellow ones at work for $16 a ton.
bump for unusual thread

Why does a guy like you posts in a place like this?

dude
>>1164603
Nice craftsmanship mate.
>>1164908
what kinda limestone is it exactly? it looks soft as fuck, especially on the crest.
i'm currently working on a crest in sandstone, it's more or less finished, just need to clean the "background"
>>1165675
idk. some variant of croatian limestone from dalmatian coast. got it as present from friend. it is soft but not that much. nice work btw.

Would you recommend stone masonry as a career?
I'm looking into working in heritage sites (UK), either as a banker or fixer. Maybe move onto carving If I get any where good.
>>1165755
i would. it's a manly job and well paid if you are good at it. you can always find a job and get enough money to be lazy for a few months. but be prepared to move around.
>>1164603
You're Greek, aren't you?
>>1166001
I'm from Dalmatia. Just across Italy. Croatian coast. Why did you assume that I'm greek? Because of that head? I't looks a bit greekish maybe.

Yeah, that.
I always wondered whether chaulk would be a good material to practice stone carving. Its abundant around here.
How do you start sculpting? I can't seem to visualise what I want to crate and end up just making it up as I go along.
>>1165781
Sounds great, doesn't it fuck your back up though?
>>1166070
i never heard of people practicing with chalk, but practicing with plaster is a common thing.
you usually start sculpting with clay, chiseling things in stone from scratch is not common. some people do that but it's an exception. you build your model in clay and then you transfer it to stone, that's how the old masters did it, and it hasn't changed much today.
>>1166080
you have to be careful and know your limits. ideal would be to work not more than 5 hrs per day.

chalk is good for practicing but i would skip it and go directly to some soft limestone. carving is removing material - with clay is different because you add material and/or remove it. working in stone will make you think twice before you act.
