Speaker grill cloth too thin... I painted the cabinets white and went to replace the cloth and the shit I bought is too thin. Even though I painted the grills white you can still see them through the fabric. Can i double it up or should i return and order from elsewhere?

Speaker cloth I ordered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A8PCVKO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just tried doubling it up and you can still see the plastic grill through both layers (pic related)

Any suggestions for a better brand?

Remove the grill.

they look absolutely awful without the grill (pic related). definitely not made to "show off". I was just trying to get them all-white to blend into the wall/room (all other decor in the room is white besides my tv and keyboard) and look less trashy

You'll always see some of the grill through the cloth, especially with white. If it was thick enough to block the vision it would be thick enough to block the sound. That's why you order special cloth.

Would a light grey be any better visually (grill less visible)? With the original black you can't see any of the grill - it's just that the damn black doesn't match the room
>>
>>1161969
Probably not, but it's worth a try to me. Black is the only color that hides it. We even had grills custom painted to match the room colors and patterns but you could always tell.
>>
>>1161974
Eh, if you don't think it'll work then maybe it's not even worth buying and returning the grey to amazon. i'll just buy some black fabric and have "panda" speakers with black faces and white sides/top/back
>>
>>1161923
I commented on your reddit thread. I wanna reiterate that I think if you cut out the diamond grate part of the grill, I think the white would still work
>>
>>1161991
Yea it would definetly help.
>>
>>1161991
I'm a bit hesitant as once it's cut then there's definitely no going back. I have a dremel so I could do it - just want to avoid that as I don't have the money right now to buy new speakers if i fuck it up.

think this would be any better? white cabinet + grey grill fabric might look nicer than white cabinet + black grill fabric

Never Judge a Grill by the Cover. Or something.
>>
Do they make the fabric with any kind of pattern on it?
>>
>>1162030
maybe but that would be tacky

Take a knife and cut the fucking grill out of the frame then put the fancy cover cloth back over it, you mouth breathing retards.

Pulled the stock fabric off of the other grill - the black also shows through the white fabric. I'm just going to return the white and go with black fabric (pic related - though when I redo it the ugly Polk Audio logo will be gone

and what they look like without the grills (finally painted the "face" of the speaker today). I'll probably go back and do some light touch up with a tiny brush as my taping wasn't 100% perfect

could have just bought pic related. or control 23's, white diamonds, etc.
>>

Those are all way outside of my price range and I'd like to reuse my existing speakers for the same reason (cost)
