The spikes and pommel are aluminium, but the rest of the body is magnetic so most likely steel.

I dont know if a near mirror polish is easy to do so cheaply so i dont know if its plated.

For the display box i highly reccomend just a minimalist wod frame amd glass front. Maybe some lighting.

Personally if it was mine it is getting a dremel tool or lazer etched backlit plexi front and a pipe frame or something else cool.

I haven't weighed it, but by eyeballing it id say its about 3 or 4mm thick so it could probably crack a few skulls before denting.

A case for it would probably be worth more than the mace.

Don't paint it, buy a big chunk of meat and fuck it up outside, let it dry. Get some dirt on one side and blood on the other.

For a case, go with something like an "in-case of zombies break glass" kinda thing using some wood and glass or slide in acrylic. Then guests/friends/women/fuckbuddies won't be freaked out by your having weapons. Your goal should be to put it into the not scary but still real range in that uncanny emotional valley. So you come off as cool, but not a fedora wearing 4channer.

Also your friend should make a hand guard for it out of those spikes. He could make the guard using two cast pieces of metal that bolt together above the black leather. The guard should then have matching spikes sticking out of it, angled up by 20 degrees or so in the direction of the sphere. And it needs a wrist strap coming off the guard, not off the bottom of the handle.

That's what I'd recommend for improving it. That and covering it in dried blood.
