Hey /diy/ers, I am building a small modular toy, picture attached.
The main driving force will be a rack and pinion that you push down from the top, and kids will place different "sub-toys" in the designated areas.
So far I only came up with a small catapult thing as a sub-toy (as you can see in picture).
Any /diy/ers have any other ideas for small (preferably engineering/mechanical-based) sub-toys that would be powered by a simple rack and pinion gear set?
I will update with pictures of final product when I am done.
Thanks in advance.
>also is a cylinder the best way to go about this? Maybe a flat rectangle may be better...?
A safety goggles thrower so that the marble thrown by the catapult doesn't replace one of their eyes
if you made it a triangle you wouldn't have to come up with as many things
What about a dynamo to allow people to monetise their children?

check out some of the vietcong traps, they look about the same.

NEW ! Fingercrusher 3000 !
now with improved eye blinding catapult and improved fingercrush area at the base between the rack and base

this could work as a nut cracker

This is a neat idea anon. The sub toys have great potential. Make sure there's a spring that pushes the thing back up.
I'll write down the first things that came to mind.
>a rotating fan
>dynamo and lightbulb/electric thing
>start spinning the weels on a small car, send it going at the bottom / spinning top
Have you seen those handspinners that edc people have been carrying? Just setting something into motion, like spinning a ball bearing, can be really satisfying
>rotating thing that you start spinning by pushing down. Think bicycle wheel.
>elevator, or flag, or some thing that gets pushed up a tall rail. higher than the button is pushed down, gear transmission
Im pretty tired, hope these these ramblings make sense.

Can't imagine this thing with multiple devices flailing around and launching shit straight at a tiny face.

What the fuck kind of gear rack is that. That ain't anu gear rack I've every heard of.

whatever this thing is it doesnt look very fun to play with
