What are the best mods you've done to your house and why?
my skill level is about a 6/10
Dog porn for your time.
My thoughts are to add these:
Crown molding
raindrop shower head
soft water filter
secret room for my guns
I ended up updating my downstairs bathroom because we had plumbing done. Took the opportunity since half the wall was ripped out. Moving on to the kitchen in the next week.

What did you update?
my house was built in 2015 and it's pretty new.
Attached are some pics the realtor had.

>bought remodeled house. Water heater is 60' away from original hot water source.
>master bath is 60' away from that source.
>120' of pipe between my shower and hot water but the heater is literally on the other side of the wall.
Going to run a new pipe into the wall and connect it to the hot water there, then swing the old hot water pipe to the cold of one of the two sinks so I don't end up with one abandoned pipe in my house with water sitting in it rotting away. Takes like 5 minutes to heat up the pipe anyway so no one will ever notice it's hot water.
>>1154884the struggle is real, try looking into some insulation, are the pipes copper or plastic?
>>1154892
Everything is copper. It should be fine once I run the new line. The bathroom next to the master is still torn apart so I can put a new line in easily. I will probably insulate the outside section anyway though.
>homeowner of 70+ yr old house
Please take the time to rip out the unused pipe. You'll save yourself or a future plumber or homeowner from a wtf moment and the added cost to a project.
>>1154904
It's not unused though. That's the point of connecting it to the sink. I guess i will label it though.

Also >remove 60' of slab pipe and tear up my kitchen tonreach the other end to cap it.
Yeah naw.
Top tools to get for a homeowner?

Are these homemade missles?
>>1154835
So far, new wood on outside of house, new windows and paint, Fully landscaped front yard, new entry door. On to do list, new kitchen and master bath and privacy fence around yard. After that hopefully nothing major til I die.

Texas, David Weekley thrown together 2700sqft home which is 30 years old (10 mine) so ymmv...
Cordless drill (nothing fancy, Ryobi is good)
Multimeter
Stud finder
Wall Laser level (B&D is good)
Drain wrench
Pipe snake (if you have hard water in your area)
Obvious outdoor stuff
I've put in wood floors (1000sqft), wood deck (21'x~18'), installed clear polycarbonate paneling over 25'x18' pergola deck cover, repaired roof (after hurricane), retiled, rewired, ran hard line (network, cable, phone), painted godamn everywhere, etc. And don't get me started on the damn yard.

I like the secret room for guns idea and I want a place for my shit too,
Look up subway tile bathroom, a style popular in the 20's an 30's
>>1154835
I've tore down and renovated the detached garage, from framing all the way to insulating and vapour barrier, regular 100amp service, large natural gas heater, cable and internet in the backyard.
I did roofing before so I did my own roof.
I refinished my oak hardwood flooring original to this house built during the 50's
At my moms new pool liner installed for a large poured concret in-ground pool, 14 feet deep.

Home depot has a "murphy bookcase" opens like a door, size of a door. would likely turn an interior closet into the gun room.
