Anyway I stupidly put them down there. I tied it to a cardboard toilet roll and flushed it to see what would happen. I wanted to see the thread / tape getting sucked down but instead it just got blocked.

It's been blocked now for 4 months and I'm shitting into plastic bags.

Can you cut the other side of the blocked pipe from going to sewage treatment? Because pumping them back up the pipe should work, though the mess at the end won't be pretty. Putting a whole bunch of acetone down the pipe is ill-advised if you have plastic pipes, even more so if you're not cut off from local sewage treatment.

open up the end a little bit so it will hook the tape, shove 20 or so feet of the wire down your shitter, and slowly twist the fish tape reel while pulling out the fish tape
