Hey /diy/, figured you'd be the best to ask about this.
I bought a Precision 183 water bath the other day. And when I got it I found that this part was broken off. Quick question but, any idea what it is? I've got two ideas, it's either a ground or a temperature probe, as it's soldered onto the back of the thermostat.
Anyone have any idea what it is and the best way to fix it? The manual online is pretty shitty.
Bought it to start developing c41 and e6 film at home easier. Pic is the probe like thing under the clip. The bolt it connects to is removed.

Pic from the back, silver wire hanging is what it used to be part of. It connects to the back of the thermostat.

Any ideas on how to fix it? I haven't had much luck finding a replacement part anywhere. not the best when it comes to electronics. My old High school electronics class tells me soldering it might change the resistance.

It's not fixable. Uses the pressure of a liquid through the silver tube to trigger the thermostat. Broken tube is a replacement issue.
Pull the whole themostat, find the part number and replace.

Thermostats are cheap and easily replaced. Find an adjustable thermostat that fits your range and voltage.
