how much does it cost?

Read the sticky
>Be patient, this is a slow board; your thread will be around for days.
Don't really appriciate the flood of unrelated images.

Installed my own in a new location. Don't remember what it cost... little over $200 I think.
It's not too bad if you can solder a joint. More physical labor than figuring things out.
It's just 2 fillings that need unsoldered and soldered. better off getting new ones probably. If you need more length, you'll need a couple couplers and short length of pipe.
Here's a thread about making coper pipe connections

Flooding is you posting constantly without any alternation of other posters.

In short, ask your question. Fuck off. At some point it'll be answered. Come back read answer, respond as appropriate.

we don't have too many threads about building fighter aircraft.

when I looked into tankless electric water heaters the big deal is that they require a tremendous amount of current to provide a decent flow rate compared to a tank type.

Go to YouTube and watch an install.

Rheem Fury with a Saturn Burner. Made in the early 1970s. Picture related. Not a tankless but you get a free bump.
>how much does it cost?
Operating cost is about $10 a month for two adults. I got it free from my old man's house when he did an addition and needed a larger one.
>was install easy?
Yup.
>did you pay someone to do it or did you "do it yourself"?
DIY.

>I was thinking about going the tankless water heater route
They only make sense in two situations.

1.) You currently have a Natural Gas or Propane Hot Water heater. The downside here is that in some states it is categorically illegal for you to replace one yourself.
2.) Your existing Water Heater is very close to a sub-panel breaker box. Or close to your main breaker box. If close to your main breaker box (again) it may be illegal for you to replace the Hot Water Heater in this situation given you are going to need to replace the existing breaker and supply cabling that runs to your hot water heater because the tankless unit is going to need WAY WAY more current.

Gas Tankless Hot Water heaters are great because the fuel burning has ample BTU output to heat water as it flows through the unit.

Electricity on the other hand (even at very high wattages) really doesn't do as well. And if your current electric hot water heater isn't within so many feet of a breaker box the cost of having the run high gauge lines between the two can cost more than the sales price of the tankless water heater unit itself.

Very elegant baiting.

Tank heaters work fine. Biggest costs come from maintaining heat.

Tankless work fine. Biggest costs come from using more energy being used in that instant.

Unlimited hot water is nice, but they make tanks big enough to work for a family of 4 for about $240 per year operating costs.

Install is easy, if gas. Just don't be an idiot and check it for leaks afterwards. Make sure it is vented properly. Make sure you have a CO alarm.

Electricity is fundamentally easier. It's more immediately dangerous. You'll probably have to open your breaker box, even with the main breaker off you still have your option of touching live 110 or 220 lines(may vary by location) if you feel so inclined. And if you make it through without getting zapped you may have did it wrong and cause a fire at some point. Like if you install wire rated for 15 amps(cause it's cheaper) with a 30 amp breaker for a circuit that operates at 26 amps, or you dont screw your terminals down and it decides it likes to arc in all the free space.

But it is much easier than running a gas line, but if you fuck up a gas line you'll be able to find out immediately and correct it with no real danger. It's also cheaper to operate gas normally.
>>
Tankless is more expensive, both up front cost and running costs. They're also expensive to fix when the go down

Not worth it if you're not going to install it yourself.

Where do you live?

tankless water heaters are good as long as your ground water isn't cold. If you're in a place that has really cold ground water you're not going to get very many gallons per minute from it at all. Sometimes in winter here in CO I can see less than 1gpm from some good water heaters.
>>
Tankless is the norm where I live. Take in mind that if you live on an area with hard water supply, the mineral buildup on the tiny tubbing those heaters use will eventually clog in maybe 6 months, and replacing it is too much of a pain in the ass.
