I need to do some fence repair in my yard.
The tree is consuming the fence. It has grown a lot in the past five years.
Its a very mature tree. 40+ years.
Roots and limbs are huge obstacles in the way of the current fence line.
Maintaining the health of the tree is top priority.
What would you guys do?

Branches hang into the upper line of the fence. Posts have been cut but are now being eaten.

Huge roots grow well above the lower line.

Fence is constructed with galvanized posts, Simpson strong ties and 2x4s.

The large roots and a potential sprinkler line create obstacles for new post holes.

Remove the fence boards and swap them to the inside of the fence trim to fit. Sort of like this.

I've got the same thing happening, but worse. I think I'll have to just get rid of the fence entirely in that area since the trunk is now half on my property.

Always calculate the damage an old tree will do if it falls on your house. It's worth trimming or felling them before they get too large if your area is prone to storms. If you pay to remove a very tall, old tree that can get expensive.

i'd leave it how it is because it's pretty neat looking
