Is it possible to rewire a UK plug and fit a Type A or Type I plug?
I've borrowed this idea from my dad. He travels quite a bit for work and instead of taking multiple travel adaptors to use his personal laptop, work laptop, phone charger, fitness tracker ect, he just takes a UK surge protector and one travel adaptor. He then runs all of his UK things through the surge protector, and puts and adaptor on that to convert to wherever he's gone off to.
I'm going to be going to China for my year abroad and I want a solution that's a bit more permanent. I'm wondering if it's possible to buy Type A or Type I plugs which you can then attach your own wire to.
have you never been in a hardware store or heard of online shopping? also: buying cables or your dad's system are better ideas

step 1: buy a rewireable 4 way adapter extension lead thing. one you wire yourself e.g. you can get a masterplug one from screwfix for <10£
step 2: get an iec 60320 c13 to c14 lead from a computer shop or ebay or something. you can get them in lots of colours now too if you want something fun.
step 3: ut off the c13 plug and throw it in the bin
step 4: connect the c14 end to the multiway socket
now wherever you go you can borrow or steal a computer lead to plug your adapter into.
mk does a range of type a sockets for hotels and shit but i don't know if they do plugs and i don't know where you would find a distributor that actually stocks them.
also note us supply is 110v, sometimes that matters (toasters, vacuum cleaners) sometimes it doesn't (computers, phone chargers) sometimes its hard to tell (computers, televisions) so be aware.
Hi all
i didnt want to start a new tread so i thought i would add to this one.
I am attempting to add a wall mount socket and i am not 100% sure on the wiring.
I have a Live, earth and neutral wire, but where do i wire it in on this plug?

If he's from the UK then yes, it is highly unlikely he has ever gone to a hardware store where they are selling anything other than Type G or Type D plugs.
