I am about to buy a house and the main living area is an undivided room of 6x4m with a protrusion for the entrance.
How does this concept look for dividing it between a dining room and home cinema area? While it might make more sense to put the home cinema on the left that would mean navigating through the middle of it to get to the garden/dining area. The book cases would face into the dining area.
Additionally, if I were to do the floor with a combination of wood and carpet, would a line of slate or other dark stone between the two be too optically busy?

forget about projector screen, your 2.5 m distance will not need any bigger screen than 60" (see tv size to distance calculator)
why is the bookcase in the middle of the room and how tall
forget about carpet, just use area rugs, also, nobody puts stone to divide flooring and carpet, that is just stupid
the whole thing is just question marks why did u do this even

I'm going with the projector because I already have it. The bookcase is to divide the areas, I was thinking ~180cm tall (the ceilings are 2.5m)

It's the first time I've had the opportunity to alter an interior (the carpets, walls are completely trashed and will be redone). I really have no specific idea and the division with stone seemed neat (I saw something similar in a cottage).
