Is having a tinyhome or living in a van/car a meme or actually a worthwhile alternative vs living in a household? How much would it cost to make your own that holds up well?

No. It is, depending on your situation, a worthwhile alternative to living in a mobile home or shitty apartment.
A traditional Vardo or teardrop camper you can make with 5-20k of materials if you do most/all of the work.
The biggest issues are electrical and plumbing hookups.
Especially plumbing, since tiny homes are often built on trailers to get around building code size requirements.

And the crazies who pack everything in 100 sqft are crazy.
But a hotel room is only 325 sq ft average, and since you're doing it yourself you can do things they cant, like save on floor space by putting bed in a loft or murphy bed, or fold away table/chairs (which are confusing unles you know how they work).
So in some situations, eg theres cheap land you can't build "permanent structures" on, or you have family land, etc. basically same as a cabin innawoods where theres not enough trees and building codes have a minimum size.

But downside is while you can collect rain, no drain = no toilet. except terrible chemical toilets.

But again, as a concept, it's basically the same as living in an rv, which works out for some people.

It's a meme to buy one
>spending tens of thousands of dollars on 200 sqft instead of using that as a down payment on a real house
But if you build it yourself, it's a viable option for poorfags

An important note that usually isn't stated in these threads is that you probably can't get a job without an address.

Living in a van only works if you still have access to essential facilities, such as cooking space, shower, etc. This can be done by using the pay-to-use showers at truck/bus service stops, but is not recommendable for the long-term. If you're single and you do have a van, on the other hand, no real reason not to build a simple sleeping platform for use inside the cabin in case you want to go on a road trip.

As for tiny house living, it's shit unless you're one of those guys capable of working absolute metalwork magic with shipping containers. Only a worthwhile alternative if you have land but no developments.

Get a shitty 1 or 2 grand cl camper.

Had friends live ina car.

Lived in my semi.

Sucks the largest dick...
>>
>place to park without being bothered by police/neighbors
>place to take a shit/piss (portable toilets may work)
>place to cook food(or buy fast food/canned food)
>must be very mobile, so might not suit truNEETs

lived in a van for a few months. Had a gym membership. Would lift every day. Shower and go to work.

Have a friend that would let me park in his driveway and use his kitchen once a week to meal prep.

I think the most important thing was that I kept all 3 meals for the day in a fridge at work. or I would eat out.

Got very fit and saved a shit load of money.

You don't get it do you? Lol
>>
I drove a truck and lived on the road for about 6 months. It had its ups and downs. It gets pretty lonely though, I even had a laptop but still got boring.
>>
It's a meme, just hire one.
>>
Anybody have that old diagram of a sprinter van or w/e with all the stuff laid out in it?

this?

Yup, that's the one! Thanks.
Honestly though for the price of the van, the solar array and all the other bits and bobs, you could fineagle a much better setup

Living by yourself is always lonely, it doesn't matter where it is.
>>
>>1125116
>no room for a workshop/garage.
whats the point
>>
>>1125726
>b-but I own it!
Yeah you own a tiny piece of shit with zero resale value
>>

>100W panel
You can get 250s on the cheap these days. When was this made?
>>
washcloth and a bucket for bathing. Portable stove to cook. Save up for a composting toilet or just grocery bag your shit in a sealed container when you can't use a real toilet. Regularity helps. Piss in bottles. Insulate or kys. Fan to remove moisture in air
>>

Depends on what you value. Dating's harder, but you save a lot of money and time. Are you a thing or experience person? That'll decide a lot of it.

Tiny houses are a huge waste of money unless you build it yourself and work with cheap materials. Vanliving is great so long as you're able to be self-directed and like travel.

Van-wise, probably around 4k. Tiny-house... ehh, 10 to 20? Not counting land.
