How do you call that "type" of structures?
I want a room shaped like an octagon, with windows on each of its sides
But first I need to know how it is called
>>1119893
Domus aurea.
>>1119893
Search "Domus aurea octagonal room".
>>1119898
>>1119897
Imagine something like "pic" related
but also a tower
>>1119899
That is a gazebo, enclosed by glass panels.
What information are you looking for precisely?
>>1119903
Nice, I love old houses.
Modern homes make me feel dead and hopeless.
>>1119893
You don't need to know what it's called because it is standard construction. You build it the same way you would build any other room but with 8 sides instead of 4.
I think this is it.
Its shaped like an octagon, has windows on *every* wall, and most of the time is on the corner of a house
how is this thing called and where can I get more information on how it is designed?
>>1119907
A turet I think.
>>1119893
YOU HAVE ANGERED THE GAZEBO
ROLL FOR INITIATIVE
>>1119907
I still can't find the right picture
I think I saw it once on 9gag
but basically that "tower" room was positioned in a way that you get a full view of the front and side of the house. I think it has nothing bellow it, as if it was kidna flying, but on the upper side, it was a small living room with 8 huge windows and roof shingles
>>1119911
kinda like this
>>1119912
Type in "turet house" and look at the images'.
I found it
this is the actual image
so its it called:
a) Domus aurea
b) Gazebo
c) Turet
d) Tower
e) ?????

Beautiful house's anon!
>>1119914
omg! thanks a lot
I'm having an eyegasm!
>>1119915
All those suggestions were me, and yes.
Many names, but the part of the house you are referring to is called a "turet".
>>1119917
You are welcome friend, glad to help!
>>1119917
>>1119924
>>1119926
I know right?
I love to be able to see at every angle from on high.
Build on a sturdy high hill to maximize the view!
Happy building friend!
>>1119930
thanks, but I am just looking for ideas on how to build a chicken coop
just wanted to know what suporting structure should I need to hold everything in place
I will use asphaltic shingles on almost everything
>>1119931
Ha! Okay! Still, I wish you well!
I love chickens too! : )
>>1119936
well in my case I do this in order to "get some experience"
if I fucked it up, it wont matter because it will be for some pesky birds. They don't complain as much as my wife does.
most of the stuff I build, I made them using 2" x 1" planks, and some cheap 0.3 mm triplay latimante
>>1119939
Cheap, yet effective.
Experience is great, trying small projects many times over gives you knowledge for other better ones in the future.
>>1119915
Oh boy that is one fuck of an ugly house!
>>1119904
I hear that. Every new home in my area is of this awful new style. The base is big, but the house is 85% roof. I wish I could find a better picture, but don't know what the style is called. It's like this pic except all of the roof reaches the first floor, and there's dormers and pyramids all over it. It's just a big ugly mound of roof. And people are paying fortunes for what's essentially a ranch house because the roof slope cuts the second floor to shit.

There is a book called 'The Octagon House' that you should pick up, you can get it on amazon for about $5-6. It is rather old but it will teach you a whole lot.
