I blew up my kitchen sink drain and need to patch it. I'm thinking of buying a rubber hose clamps and putting the old piece in and hoping it'll do the trick. any other alternatives ?
>>
>>1114702
just replace the tube section. patching is not durable idea.
>>
>>1114702
>just replace the tube section.

The tee is what's fucked

get fiberglass tape for drywall
or piece of window screen fabric
or piece of fiberglass repair tape
wrap joint with tape
mix and apply fiberglass resin
wait two hours
apply second coat

don't use drain until resin has cured
apply

This is like 15 bucks worth of stuff and an hour's work fix it correctly anon
Or epoxy the chunk back on and use tie wire too hold it in place
>>
>>1114721

To be fair it could be somewhat more involved depending on how far you have to stip back the top pipework to get to that tee.

Either way its the only proper fix

You can do it!
>>
Cut all of that old shit out and just use pex
>>
>>1114732
That's not an Union :( For sone reason they used a 90° that reduces size on the down pointing end. Then used a adapter to get it back up to the same size.

Guys the big thing that I am concerned about here is the age of the pipe.

I am a gas fitter by trade so i know Iron pipes, and we also rent so i dont want to pile a bunch of money on top.

Ive had jobs before where you take off on rusted pipe and they all keep breaking and i am not looking to get in to that can of worms because fuck that.>>1114732
>>1114732
Im planning on maybe changing the Tee fitting to a PVC with PVC down to the lower pipe and just use a coupling to join it.

The top pipe is for venting that goes to the roof, and the Branch from the tee( piece that goes inside) is only about a foot to the trap of the kitchen sink.>>1114795
>>1114795
>>1114795
Its a bushing going from the T to the elbow with a nipple in between. Not sure why htey didnt have reducer coupling but im guess this pipe work is around 80-50 years old.

an issue is it will go in to concrete with no sleeve so if I keep breaking the pipe I'll be fucked when it gets to that point which is why I'd rather patch than replace.

that's the vent.

also inb4 poor fag.

this house (property) is worth about 1.3m because I live 45 minutes our side of vancouver.

the fucking rent is 1150 a month.
>>
>>1114840
The house it worth pretty close to fuck all. It is a dump. Your pictures prove that. Just from the few you've posted I've noticed a half dozen handyman specials that were clearly done by a retard and a bunch of deferred maintenance. It is the location that is worth money. If you put that house out in the middle of no where the only way you'd get a dime out of it is if you paid someone to burn it down for you and collected the insurance.

PS learn to rotate your photos.
>>
>>1114840
What are you bitching about? Do you own this property?
Don't fucking patch it. Buy the correct pipes and do it properly. Only human trash patches visible outside piping. You literally need some pipe wrenches and some PB blaster, a new tee, maybe something to slip over the old pipe after cutting.
>>
>>1114840
Why can't you get the landlord to do it? And what do you mean you blew it up?
>>
Google fiberfix .. I've rigged some stuff with it that ended up lasting for years.

How the fuck do you "blow up" a drain? Did you put explosives in it?

>>1114840
Is the fact you "blew it up" the reason you haven't called the landlord to fix his shit?
>>
>>1115010
op here

landlord doesn't ever do shit. he's in a position not too, the market here is not favorable to the renters.

it was rusting and rotted and the cold wetaher finally made the crack fall apart.
>>
>>1114892
I can rotate my photos but not off phone and I know the house as a whole is a nigger rig. just saying this is the market for a single detached home. we rent so we don't want to dump much money in considering I'm getting a straya visa and going down under for two years
>>
>>1114930
yeah I just wanted to get a few opinions. I like yours because I just cut two actual pieces and the rest comes out and I replace it with coupling and pvc.

desu I never thought doing what you showed me thanks Anon

my plan now is cut above the vent, cut near the bottom and the test of it will come out and replace it all with pvc and coupling.
>>
>>1114892

what a bitter faggot. its irreverent what it is worth in another location
>>
>>1115030
>he's in a position not too

He's legally obligated to, you fucking retard.
>>
>>1115549
yes thank you the problem with this is we aren't on a full lease and this area is not a fucking renters market and I don't want to live in a basement suite below a family of 30 Hindus
