All I want is a piece of tape covering the whole light and blocking it out entirely, I shouldn't have to stick shit under it too.

It will dim it, but not block it all the way out
The blue painters tape will last longer than electrical tape

I have blue tape on my router, I can still see the indicator lights if I want to but its not piercing anymore.

Foil tape will block 100% of the photons.

Get some aluminium foil thats used for cooking or the ones you find in chocolate wrappers, cut a small piece that fits over the leds and put any tape on it to hold it in place.

I use multiple strips of painters tape on my phone, works out okay. Like others said, a single piece just dims it
