Hee yo, I've just bought a phantom 3 but I'm not quite happy with the range,.. does anyone of you has an idea how I could extend it?
>>
>>1090627
Put it back in the box, return it for a refund, and buy something that doesn't annoy other people and invade their privacy.
>>
If you control it from a single place (your house, your backyard), just put an antenna there. Doesn't even need to be that big. If you want to extend the range on-the-fly (control from a bunch of places), you'll have to switch some internal components, and I don't recommend it. Don't do those diy shit you find online with foil paper or directional antenna, it'll just make the drone heavier or harder to fly.

If the FCC comes knocking on your door, grab your shotgun and shoot them.
>>
>>1090627
Get another drone and replace the camera with a repeater and fly behind the first one- you'll double the range.
>>
>>1090633
Shut the fuck up faggot...
>>
>>1090634
Had transport Canada come fuck me up the ass for using mine. Apparently using my drone to scout my fields is considered commercial use and requires "permission" which I believe is likely just code for taxes. It was a $12,000 fine. I no longer own a drone
>>
>>1090627
>1 mile range minimum, 3 on a good day
FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUU.
>>1090741
At least you get free health care, right?
>>
>>1091200
Waiting years or even decades for a minor procedure is hardly healthcare. If there were any private hospitals near me I'd be buying private insurance but you need to live near a major city for that

The worst part is that I pay about $60k a year in taxes most of which goes to healthcare yet I get fucking zero benefit from it. Oddly enough refugees coming here get the highest priority yet haven't contributed jack fucking shit to this country

Shut up you racist!!!
>>
>>1090741
Yo I'm so sorry to hear that you got burned so badly bro. For such a large fine I would seek some legal advice. May save your a few Gz.
>>
>>1091200
Canadian health care is not free. We pay crazy taxes but at least and illness will not bankrupt our families.
>>
>>1091209
There was no racist remarks in this post. He is merely stating a fact.
So get back in your boat and float the fuck home faggot cuz we don't want your here!
>>
Hey OP you want greater range, you need a more powerful transmitter. Get yourself a HAM radio license.
>>
>>1090627
If you want to play with settings, it would be in your interest to build the thing yourself.

Ready to fly R/C is built for people who don't want to / can't make adjustments themselves.

My advice however would be a patch antenna connected to your TX.
>>
>>1091893
Nah. The fuck made a new law set finally made. Dunno wtf it's called but it works around the ham license and is cheaper and easier
>>
>>1091951
Lol. The fcc. Not the fuck. Fucking phone. At least I'm not screaming duck u at the banana posters now I gues...
>>
>>1091892
>we don't want your here!
The funny thing is that you feel like you represent this large and diverse group with your opinion. It does feel like you are this group when you write "we" but sadly it isn't like that.
Best regards from a left-wing ultra-liberal diy lover!
>>
>>1091890
Anything more serious than the flu will have you waiting until you die anyhow.
>>
>>1091889
Lawyer is already on it. Likely just get The fine reduced but really I don't think I should have to pay shit

>>1093966
Actually Trimps election proved that the silent majority are against refugees and all the SJW bull shit.

>>1094067

>it'll just make the drone heavier or harder to fly.
Semi-friendly reminder that if you live in the US, drones weighing more than 0.55 pounds (1/4kg) must to be registered with the FAA for a $5, wait for it to be processed, then mark your drone with the registration number given to you.

(If you're just a hobbyist, you only need to do this once and can mark all your drones with the same registration number, but it wouldn't surprise me if something like >>1090741 still happened because you could use the resulting video commercially)

Oh and it doesn't just apply to drones, it applies to RC helicopters and planes too. You dronefags ruined my hobby.
>>
>>1094067
>silent majority
>didn't even win the popular vote
trumpcucks still believe this
>>
>>1094117
Well if you want to get technical winning the popular vote doesn't prove a majority either
>>
>>1094117
Silent majority of America as a whole, not silent majority of America's cities.

America is a republic of states, not a monolith of people. If we went by popular vote, the ~145 city counties that contain more than 50% of the country's population would completely deny the thousands of rural counties the chance to have a president that represents them.
>>
So what do you guys use your drones for?

It looks like fun and all, but I really can't think of any practical use for them to justify the cost.
>>
>>1094088
Yep and putting it online really anywhere would make it commercial use. People misusing drones have pretty much fucked everything just like the morons using laser pens to fuck with planes

>>
>>1094208
I've used them to record parades. I've seen others use them for "VR flying", where instead of recording video, the video gets sent to a head-mounted display. I also remember some guy in a /g/ raspberrypi thread say he used drones to carry 10 gallon buckets of stuff.
>>
>>1091205
You live in the UK, right? Canada doesn't have private insurance, IIRC.
>>
>>1094322
Canada and yep we do have private insurance as well as private hospitals and such. Problem is it's mostly limited to the biggest cities like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal etc.

No idea how many people actually use our private system but it must be quite a few to keep those hospitals up and running. And they've actually been expanding over the last few years

Oddly enough there's also many cases of our public hospitals outsourcing minor procedures to private hospitals when the backlog gets out of control
>>
>>1094322
I have private insurance in Canada so I can get to the front of the queue.

No point having insurance in the UK, everyone goes to the same hospitals
>>
>>1094221
All the more reason to play vidya all day and not have these dangerous illegal outdoor hobbies.
>>
>>1095366
Believe me I've thought about it. If I sold off all my tractors and just rented my land to someone I could live comfortably for the rest of my life. Problem is I also really enjoy farming so kinda hard to just give it up
>>
>>1090627

Just get a couple wifi amplifiers. One on the drone and one on your base station. Also a directional antenna on the base station will do wonders (but you have to aim it)

>>
>>1094619
There are private hospitals in the UK, not very many though and no huge ones as far as I know. They tend to be more specialist units but private general hospitals do exist under companies like bupa
>>
send it to me, I'll fix it
>>
>>1090627
You know, the range "limit" is could be there for a reason.
