I have no experience fixing electronics, but a reel on my reel to reel stopped turning.
How do I fix this?
It seems like an easy fix that I could do myself, as opposed to paying some guy $200 to do it for me.
Anyone have any advice or know how?
Motors usually burn out before solid state electronics do. Try removing the motor and connecting a battery to it. If it spins the problem is somewhere else, if it doesn't replace the motor.

Check the belts, wouldn't hurt to unscrew the thing and take a look around, if you are unsure of your ability to put it back, take photos and carefull log whatever you are doing

if you look up the model number, you might find a service manual, or at least a parts explosion/parts list that would help

Great idea.
You guys are super nice compared to /fa/

Sure. There was someone else with a broken reel to reel on /diy/ once. I think he ended up needing to replace an op-amp and it was all good.

Niiice.
Would it be in the archive do you think?
Sometimes it's just residue gunking it up.
