Does anyone know how I can turn a log into a snare drum. I wanna make it solid like people used to do but I'm having troubles with making it.
you mean hollowing out the log, stretching leather over both ends and then stretching springs over the bottom membrane so that their tension can be adjusted?
it looks pretty solid right now

Generally, thats not how people make a solid shell snare...
It's usually a steam bent piece of solid (maple, birch, cherry, etc), thats formed on a shell press...
Others build stave snares, kind of like building wine barrels (think coopering)...
There is a guy that builds/built drum shell out of a solid log...he turned them a a rather large lathe...I don't know how well this would turn out desu...
So, I suggest you look into steam bending or stave work...much better results...

>tfw you will never build a lathe out of a tractor

Most tractors have a PTO out that almost anything can be mounted to with little effort

Hollow the bastard out

Take log, chop into pieces, sell pieces to people with wood stoves, use money made to buy a real drum.
