Hi
I listen to radio frequencies on this webiste:
websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901
in particulary the range 2-7mhz

I'd like to be able to listen to it also without an internet connection, so there are two possibilities:
-buy a radio (I don't know if there are)
-build my own

.. how can I build my own?
is it worth?

Short wave receiver, look for DIY shortwave kits on the Internet. Ramsey electronics sells them.

This.

A cheap USB dongle can be had for around $20. GNU Radio is free.

See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software-defined_radio

Pic related is the high priced end of the hobby. But either way, your antenna will be the biggest factor in receiving distant or weak signals. Check out the ARRL antenna book (pdf available).

Get a SDR dongle with an aerial and use a program like sdr#.

Best option for on a budget.

You should get into amateur radio though mate it's great fun.

New ham here, pic related is my rig, love it.

At those frequencies antenna is everything. You can hear your local multi-kilowatt grass burner with that tiny built-in ferrite rod. That's the power you need for built in antennas:

But anything more interesting - amateurs, military, natural phenomena and or just plain broadcast stations beyond horizon will need at least a correctly oriented wire in appropriate length placed outdoors.

As for radios, i'd start with any "world radio", that, besides AM and FM has SW bands and external antenna input (e.g. Redsun RP2100).

For anything more advanced you should look for SSB demodulation.

As for DIY'ing, i'd look into regenerative receivers. Some designs automagically can work with various modulations and offer sensitivity and noise beyond anything in the consumer price range.

Look for an SDR that covers the range, then just use SDR# or something similar. RTL-SDR dongles are pretty cheap (≤$20), but I don't remember the range off the top of my head. Higher end SDRs, like the hackRF, could definitely do it, but those cost considerably more.

I don't know anything about this. What is the point of listening to this?

Should this work with an antenna? www.sdrplay.com

At that price, i'd look for something more HF oriented.

Full spectrum receivers will lack the selectivity, sensitivity, dynamic range and protection.

When you pull up a wire, without good pre-selection, any strong nearby station will interfere all over everything else.

Just get the cheapest dongle that does the trick, if you're not serious about it or look into HF specific stuff, dedicated to what you actually want to pick up.

okay and for the antenna?

but will I be able to listen to the same radio stations even if I am on a different place compared to that website?
