This is my first post in this board, since i'm more regular to /g/, but i'm thinking this is more up your alley:
I own Panasonic HXD3 Headphones http://headphones.specout.com/l/3425/Panasonic-RP-HXD3 which I plan to mod as follows (horribly made pic related).
I wanted to know what are the basics of what I should know to perform such a task, and if anyone else here has donde anything similar.

Yeah, either 1/8 or 1/4, i would prefer 1/4 jacks tho.

That seems like a strange mod. Is each jack going to be a mono independent input for the left and right ear?

You're going to have to carefully disassemble them, and solder the jacks to each speaker. They look pretty small though, small as you might not have enough room in the earbuds to drill in the jacks. I'd suggest flying wire leads with the jacks at the end.

This is a fairly common mod for Sennheiser 558's, among other headphones. Check head-fi, they probably have instructions that you can adapt to your pair.

OP I suggest you try that with banana plugs instead, it will be much easier
