Yes, hot glue is useful, but attaching a battery to a device with it is a bit... yeah.

Simply add a holder for the battery-- f.ex a rubber band and piece of paper board f.ex--the paper board which is hot glued to your masterful device-- and snap, you now can REPLACE THE FUCKING BATTERY.

800 mAh @ 9-ish volts isn't allot.

Then there's the drum of the drum sander. Glued to the spindle. Brilliant. Well, I guess either the drum or the battery will give out.

Solider to battery terminals isn't wrong, it's a fine way to connect a battery up because
A: it connects in a robust manner
B: you can easily de-solder the battery

Not that argument 'B' matters when you hot glue the battery to your masterpiece.

Sigh. Now you have to take your heat gun out to soften the glue, brilliant.

3/10 on cleverness
1/10 on functional economics
9/10 on production-- which is why it's trending.

What's wrong with it? Hot glue is spectacularly useful, and soldering to battery terminals isn't very modular but for a quick project who cares? The only thing that bothered me was using the soldering iron to punch a hole through plastic. Yeah it works, but it fucks up the tip. I'm assuming he has a tip he uses just for plastic, though.
