What's your favorite diy related youtube channels? Mine has to be colinfurze, I love watching him put shit together that works way better than I expected.
>>1051227
I was surprised that his thermite powered kettle didn't an hero.
>>1051228
The hoverbike surprised me the most, I mean it only hovers about 4 feet or so, but it stays up as long as he balances correctly, which is crazy!
>>1051227
Yeah love this guy - he's a yellowbelly too.
>>1051307
This.
Wish they got videos up quicker though.
>>1051227
at the moment? Finnegan's garage.
>>1051317
it's an unfortunate reality of car projects; time and money vanish like tea and biscuits.
Clickspring's clock making series is excellent, beautifully filmed and edited, as well as a delightful voice and accent
AvE I like for sillier stuff, plus I love his weird manipulation of the English language
>>1051354
Agreed
Also, thisoldtony is well worth checking out
Been into Cody's Lab lately. Just kind of amazed how he makes pretty much anything out of dirt, air, and his own piss.
colinfurze's biggest downfall is his short ass videos lacking any sort of detail
Primitive Technology is pretty awesome
https://youtu.be/P73REgj-3UE
>>1051387
This.
He really need to get on with that fucking mine though.
I wanna know what's in that ore.
Pretty much the only one I actively follow is BigClive, and he's so good I find it hard to watch other channels
>>1051402
You know he's gonna get about five tons of indium out of that somehow and use it for bubblegum.
SV Seeker - Guy builds a steel boat with help from random people.
GreatScott for practical electronics and AddOhms and Afrotechmods for more abstract stuff
>>1051421
Yeah I'm pretty sure it actually is. He's gotten mercury out of some of the rocks outside of it though.
But he's also gotten platinum out of road dust, so I wouldn't put anything past him.
Alexander Harlov
cottage life diy

favorits:
matthias wandel
diresta
codys lab
fynn kliemann
peter brown
i like building myself, so i watch alot of channels :D
i nearly made all my furniture myself and like projects like infinity mirror tables and smart mirrors
>>1051398
>Interior shot lit by a fucking sap torch.
He thought he was so clever with the door. Bet he wishes he'd put in a window with tile shutters or something.
>>1051458
Yeah I thought the same thing
>>1051391
In fairness, most of it can be figured out fairly easily.
any channel where they "teach" you different thing?
Like carpentry, gardening etc..
my problem with colinfurze is that it's a whole team who can throw vast amounts of money and work at a subject, it then gets chopped around to look like he did it.
It's technically professional work they do, it isn't ENTIRELY in the spirit of it all. It's exploratory engineering over DIY.
Surprised none of you have mentioned this guy :
https://www.youtube.com/user/MrTeslonian/videos
He lives in the middle of nowhere, builds incredible stuff out of shite he just has laying around, talks like a crazy person, edits like a crazy person but is actually very intelligent.
A true DIY'er.
Check out the Trompe Hammer setup he makes for pressurizing air from a stream, then the compressed air electric generator he runs using it.
Also check out the working (But crappy and unfeasably clunky) load-bearing exoskeleton he made as well as his work on designing tesla turbines.
It's not just some wealthy middle-class snob fannying around with money.
>>1051259
So every definition of yellow belly that I know of means coward. Is that what you meant?
I like Pithy Bikes atm, it kind of has a similar tone to Clickspring except he's building a bike frame. Slow as hell updates though.
>>1051516
Also means gook or part gook
>>1051307
Hell yes to this. To bad it takes them 3 months for a new episode, but they do a lot of really good work.
Rinoa Super-Genius
This guy is such a know-nothing slackass. He nigger-rigs everything, never uses the right tools, hoards useless shit, and hardly ever completes any project. Add to it, he's "transitioning" and tends to lol-cow in the comments. The autism levels are off the charts. It's a cavalcade of cringey comedy and the dumb SOB doesn't realize it.
>>1051458
first thing I thought while I saw him building it was "why the fuck aren't you putting in windows"
>>1051593
Because when he is inside it is dark out side.
Windows are a luxury of lazy people who can't be bothered go out during the day..
>>1051354
AvE is the only one I'm subscribed to. He shows all the steps to what he's doing and is a pretty good word smith to boot.
AVE is pretty great
So is cody's lab, clickspring and I have a shit ton of wood turning videos that I love watching
>>1051547
No it doesn't you idiot
http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/yellow-belly.html
Big Clive.
youtube.com/user/bigclivedotcom
Doesn't make things so much but his teardowns of neat little things are spot on and the guy is just great.
>>1051516
>>1051547
In England, someone native to the county of Lincolnshire is a Yellowbelly.
Matthias is the king of youtube woodworkers, though I hate to admit the quality and content of his videos have been lacking since having a kid. Still, I get really excited when he puts up a new vid.
AvE is also incredibly entertaining.
>tfw seeing Matthias reply to mugi chan on his latest video
Gold
>>1051713
i bet that guy is from /diy/ as well
>>1051713
King of woodworkers? Kind of debatable, and that's a very calm, non-autistic reply for him.
>>1051713
>>1051742
>king of wood working
KEK. This channel should be censored for lewdness.
> Channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM2hShzsbswKVSJP3se3X2Q
>lewd video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97NdFOeQ-fk
>>1051438
> fynn kliemann
Now that's something i can watch with my wife on the big tv, she loves the way his girlfriend is aleays bitching and complaining.
What's with his new channel, though?
>>1051599
>Airflow.
>Light.
>He's worked inside several times.
Nice try being an elitist fag. Made yourself look retarded.
>>1051789
So you're telling me he has already proven he can work inside fine without any big hole in the walls to let in more light, the rain and the "airflow" wind.
Do you understand the concept of shelter?
You want to keep the wind and rain out, shutters will not be as efficient as a solid wall.
Maybe when he gets round to making glass he can puts some windows in so he can admire the view and plant some window boxes for some Nosegay.
>>1051798
>Wind, out
Guess you never heard of shutters. You know, before people could really afford glass windows
>work inside fine
The lighting is incredibly shit so barely anything is visible on camera. Filling the room with soot and smoke is "fine"
Lol ok.
>>1051804
>shutters will not be as efficient as a solid wall.
>he works outside in 99% of his videos.
>>1051813
>Implying the door makes any kind of seal.
Might as well be solid wall all way round according to you then
>99% of videos
So you concede the lighting in the 3 indoor videos is garbage and you don't have an argument to the contrary
>>1051822
>Might as well be solid wall all way round according to you then
Then how would he get it, come on don't act dumb.
>So you concede the lighting in the 3 indoor videos is garbage and you don't have an argument to the contrary
The lighting inside doesn't bother me, I don't need everything to filmed in high definition wide-screen with a professional lighting rig. I'm just happy watching what he makes.
The entire 'filmed on a potato meme' doesn't bother me if the subject is good.
I'm not a do it yourselfer kinda guy but I'm into fighting game and that brought me the channel "Make It Extreme"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhEtE6EWKPk
This video really
Now I watch other videos he does cause I love seeing the shit he makes and just tell myself "Man that would be fucking cool to have"

Grant Thompson-King or Random
For me it's Steve Ramsey and his wood working for mere mortals. I'd say 2013 on is when quality really stepped up.
He isn't a fine woodworker trying to get the perfect dovetail, he just gets stuff done and I enjoy that.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBB7sYb14uBtk8UqSQYc9-w
2nd for many of these names i'm seeing -- AvE, colinfurze, abom79, aussie50, matthias wandel. am subscribed to all.
also try: electroboom, mighty car mods, tom's turbo garage, myfordboy
>>1051496
gonna check out MrTeslonian today, thanks
and oh fuck! i almost forgot: april wilkerson.
you can thank me later.
Jamie Mantzel, used to live off grid in the US, built a giant robot and got his own toy line inspired from it.
Now lives on an island in Panama and built several fiberglass boats, including a house boat and a bigger cargo boat. Lots of domes too.
Enjoying to watch, he does some philosophy stuff too that can be ok from time to time.

Mighty Car Mods puts on a pretty cool show.
>>1052309
this...
>>1051426
The cinnabar came from a different mine, actually.
I think he has lots of mining claims around Utah.
>>1051488
do you mean team as in his 1 friend who you occasionally see in the build videos?
no fucking photnoicinduction? that dudes fucking rad
>>1052827
he also is dead.
>>1052827
>>1051743
quiet impressive...
>>1052223
I like Abom. It's fairly intensive unless you're really quite into metalworking though. Seems a real nice guy.

>>1051789
If he wants a window he can put one in at any time. The way he built that is taking basic building principles that have been around since the beginning of civilization. All he would have to do is break off the mud in the area he wants the window with some sort of chisel then clean it up a bit, but he doesn't because he doesn't need the window.
