Ancillary question: I have a red oak board 2x4x12 left over from another project. Thinking about taking it, cutting it and making it into a cutting board. What are the best food-safe sealants out there for it? Google tells me 100% pure tung oil, food safe mineral oil (the same type that's used for a laxative,) shellac, pure linseed (not boiled,) and a few others like walnut oil. Any experience on this?

I've heard the mineral and pure linseed oil recommended a few times for that purpose on /diy/, and I've personally had no problems with mineral oil on the butcher board I installed as a kitchen counter.
