Hi, all. I’m an aspiring locksmith. I’ve bought myself the kit and a whole bunch of practice locks. I’ve been recently practicing lockpicking my locks in my house. One such lock is a deadbolt and normally I don’t have any problems with it but when the lock releases, it gets stuck. I’ve posted the video to show what I’m talking about. I’ve unlocked it from both directions, but it always gets stuck.

bump, no locksmiths on this board? I think its because theres a extra layer of security that prevents the key from turning. Does anyone know anything about this?

Today's thread OP is a nigger

I just want to know the mechanics behind it.

Every time you pick it, especially when you're a noob and can't into picking, you're bending the metal and damaging the tips of the pins, the sides of the pins, and the walls of the cylinders, and the smoothness of the keyway.

You should replace the lock and mount it in a piece of wood to practice on. It sounds like it's pretty bad already if it's that bad to open or close, you don't want to rely on it to keep your door locked or else it's going to eat your key one day and not open to boot.
