What do I do in this situation, there's a big blob of water under that ceiling paint after a rainstorm. Currently have a bucket underneath it to catch the brownish water droplets.

Do I stab it and let it pour through?
>>
Yep. Paint is fucked either way.
>>
>>1039533
>Do I stab it and let it pour through?

This is what I would do, and then go outside and try to figure out what failed to let the water in.
But if you are renting and shit, maybe you should get the landlord to come over and see it. Might get them to work on fixing the problem when they see it with their own eyes
>>
>>1039533
Yes. if you dont it will promote more water damage. Pop it then start cutting wet drywall out
>>
>>1039533
>do I stab it?
what was plan B? - jist out of curiosity.
Film it and post a webm - with luck, you may find a helluva lot more water up there than you suspected. Also, fix leak.
>>
>>1039546
This OP, fucking film it
>>
>>1039533
NO!

don't stab it.

get someone you don't like to stand under it and poke it with something pointy while you film it.... as said above paint is fucked either way, may as well get it on youtube....
>>
keeping water up there is the absolute worse thing you can do

like >>1039537 said, you need to address the leak asap, or notify the property owner

I think the source of water comes from the edge between wall and first floor's roof

Can't really see from photo, but there seems to be a slight crack that seemed soaked around it

If that is the case, what do I use to fill up the crack?
>>
>>1039595
>>
>>1039595
Dude, your shingles are wasted as fuck. You need a new roof.
>>
>>1039595
>Can't really see from photo, but there seems to be a slight crack that seemed soaked around it

That's the least of your troubles. Missing mortar and shingles that should have been replaced a decade ago. I suspect that tin flashing down towards the downspout is also pulling away from the brick face as well.

You're going to be re-shingling and replacing some wood sheathing as well due to moisture damage. With all that replsced, you can then fix the internal damage the leak may have caused
>>
>>1039595
That poor neglected roof.....
>>
Fuck that looks like a nice tiddy desu senpai
>>
>>1039533
shove a vacuum into it?
>>
Please tell us you rent OP...

Please for the love of god tell us you did not neglect your house in such a way.

>Missing mortar
Actually that's apparently normal. I have. no idea why but they leave a gap here and there.
>>
>>1039533
i don't think i could resist popping that
>>
>>1039871
all hail the Ceiling Boob!
>>
Missing mortar is only normal if your brick guy is an idiot.

And that roof should have been replaced rewards ago.

Fixing the interior damage is a waste if you don't fix the exterior first.

Made my morning. Thanks lol.

Not OP but here's a stretchy paint roof leaking video I recorded at my apartment about 3 years ago. There was a leak in the drain pipe from the guy above me when he would shower. Before the punctured the hole, there mustve been 2 inches of water on that drywall (how it didnt collapse is beyond me). After I popped the hole, water was literally dripping freely from the pipe.

Grope it like a sexy ceiling titty.

amateur

>set up cam
>find a way to add water to it (hose on roof, etc)
>let it go until it blows itself
>landlord fixes anyway
>>
>>1039595
Your shingles look about three years past the point of no return. Now you will likely have to replace large sections of sheathing because it will be soaked.

Hopefully you have some money saved up OP. Also make sure that you address any flashing and brick issues at the same time.

Get a tarp over it until you can get a long weekend to redo the roof.
>>
>>1039946

If he owns the house the neglect his %100 on him unless he bought it like that. In which case that roof should be the first thing he fixed after buying.

If he rents then it is his duty to report it but at the point the neglect is on the property owner.

>>1039585
p...put your dick in it

Am I the only one that wanted to shelac the piss out of this and have some weird melty art deco walls?
>>
>>1039886
In some cases it is for ventilation between inner and outer wall so condensating moisture doesn't stay there.
