So what I found is basically what you see in the picture and then another method which directly has two parts that fold but the problem is that I'm not sure I end up saving that much money.

Forgot to say that this desk will be for my laptop + some extra space for taking notes or whatever

What you have posted looks just fine. But I would make two arms instead, one on each end. Much more sturdy for resting your hands on with a little weight and what not. Lots of small campers use folding tables, they're convenient if you don't have much space.

also make sure there is some sort of locking mechanism for the open position. just something that would make it [more] difficult to knock the support out with your knee or whatever.
