Hello /diy/!
Just got myself a new keyboard, but it has this ugly logo on the front, that's printed on the plastic.
How do I remove it?
Already tried with denatured alcohol with no results and also scratched it with some sugar, which faded it a little. How can I remove the logo completely without ruining or altering the plastic?
>Pic related: that printing
My first thought would have been a weak solvent solution but there's a strong chance it will damage the plastic finish.
There's not really a clean way of doing it without running as risk of damage. It's going to be an abrasive removal. They're generally not indented to be removable.
Maybe a strong duct tape would lift some paint from plastic, personally I use this method to remove glue leftovers from tape.
You might also buy some vinyl, remove caps, cut to size and apply. You don't risk damaging the surface
OP could you provide a link for the keyboard?

The base model is I-500, which has a lot of names like Tomoko or VicTsing. Just search it on Amazon, it's around 39€

I've used this solvent fo simmilar applicatios before. Will almost never damage plastic, but will lift screen-printing, marker pen, etc.
Try using baking soda instead of sugar. The abrasion is finer and less likely to damage the plastic. May need to mix it with a little water to get it to stick together a bit.
Magic eraser with a bit of water, and a bit of time
Acetone would work .
Might craze the plastic .
Test on underside.
If no crazing .
Take off logo .
Profit .

WD-40

wd-40 disolves shit.
Try carburetor cleaner, it dissolves even more shit.
If it were me Id just wire brush it ever so lightly. You could also go over it with a sharpie or spray paint.

Just hit it with 1000grit wet n dry. Glue a little bit on a paddle pop stick end, and scrub it gently away.
Failing this, trace the shape using super glue, attach some sturdy rope, and use a crane to lift it out.

Just paint over it. Use model paint. It's a low wear area of the keyboard, should last several years.
its not as ugly as your mom
