Hi /diy/, this knife I made using an old chisel is my first attempt at forging something. What do you think? Any tips to improve my work?

Thanks
Looks good, don't care for the blade finish though. Looks a little small and unwieldy with no guard on the tang as well.

how is it unwieldy?

I guess he wants to stab shit and that knife isn't made stabbing in mind. Dunno why he thinks it needs to be bigger.

It would be cool if I've made a guard indeed, but I wasn't really going for the stabbing stuff initially. About the size, I think it kinda fits well in my hand.
I'll look forward on making the guard on the next one

Cool congrats on your first forging.
We have an older thread in the archive- >>1022011
Has a few good bits of info there.
Just with your tool steels, its pretty important that they don't get worked cold, so soon as the metal starts to lose its plasticity under the hammer, straight back into the forge for more heat. Otherwise it'll get microfractures through the structure.
They also like a good soak in the hardening process of much longer than some other steels too, literally get them up to temp and keep it there for half an hour or so.
