It was just a vore fic I wrote. The writing wasn't the best, in fact it was lackluster. I posted it to fanfiction.net and that's probably my biggest regret.

Some criticism I've received in the past is provide a little more detail, but remember to show, don't tell. The most important thing for me is that their reaction is realistic and in line with whatever characterization they had beforehand. Aside from that, I like it when the prey is overwhelmed by the idea of being eaten, instead of being indifferent. If they expect to die, they'll probably be scared, but otherwise they might feel awe and amazement.

As someone who likes both, I find fatal vore to be more erotic because it allows more post-vore stuff to happen, like the pred being full and satisfied by their meal (or being uncomfortable with indigestion), belching/farting, and weight gain.

Sort of, but generally I'm way more interested and focused on the pred's reaction, particularly if the content is art instead of writing. The only prey reaction I almost universally dislike is willing prey that are really happy they are being eaten, especially if it's going to be fatal for them. Most of it is heavily context related for me, such as with your examples, a prey that is in a state of despair and terror works really well when there isn't much of a connection between them and the pred, like the prey is a random bystander being victimized. While something like a naive, unaware or aloof prey works better when they're more comfortable and the pred is someone close to them like a girlfriend/wife/maternal figure etc.

The main appeal of fatal vore for me is a combination of the prey being assimilated into the preds body in some way, usually with a focus on zones like breasts, butt, thighs, belly etc. and the humiliation factor of the entire digestive process and what it does to any remains of the prey or just the elimination of any trace of their existence, depending on whether or not disposal is being taken into consideration. The loss of life part can also factor in to the appeal, but that is again heavily context based. I have a sick fascination with it when it's a pred eating random people purely for the sake of their own hunger/gluttony or some sort of other motivation like politics or hatred. Basically a loss of life for selfish or petty reasons that aren't at all necessary. I think that's mostly the problem with Saints art. They're probably capable of something at least a bit better but instead thrives off of really low quality art pumped out at a mass-production level.
