Not trying to troll or whatnot, I am mainly just curious and couldn't think of a better place to ask. What do you guys feel the appeal of vore is?

I talked to someone the other day, they said (from an outside perspective) that they could see it as a dominance/submission thing with the eater versus the eaten. Another one of his theories was vore as a variation of predator/prey dynamics.

What do you guys think? Is it an intimacy/closeness thing? Is the image of a person distorted the main appeal? Do you find the actual eating process to be the most erotic.

I don't know what's considered 'good' vore art, but I did want to at least contribute something so I'm not just wasting a post and being a dick lol.

My opinion has changed over time, but the person you talked to is fairly close to what I think about it currently.

Part of it is simply the extreme end of a dom/sub fetish, so extreme that the sub is absorbed by the dom. On the other hand, I also enjoy monster predators which kind of plays on the idea that humans are actually vulnerable and weak. In reality, humans are the apex predator, we fear nothing in normal circumstances. But what if animals and monsters were able to eat humans without much trouble? I'm not sure why that's arousing, but it is. Just an upending of societal norms?

It's honestly a lot of things that are indescribable. I'm just wired in my brain to like this, I doubt anything in my upbringing or surroundings had a major impact on it. I didn't realize it was an actual thing until my twenties even.

Not them, I actually like Cheese, but I really think they should practice some more anatomy and perspective. Their art is cute but I usually resort to it as something closer to a last resort. It's just a step above MS Paint autism. Real fingers, defined faces, an actual skeletal structure, etc.

It'd be nice to have a tag system where it prompts for the type of vore (or nonvore/other fetish), the sex of the character(s) in the piece, and then there can be a space for whatever else.

It'd also be nice to sort by popularity (views/favourites), a blacklist for tags that removes the piece entirely, or a blacklist that can be applied to a username. It'd also be nice to be able to instantly tell stories from images similar to Deviantart and Furraffinity.

I do appreciate those who like whatever I do and I especially do appreciate the feedback and criticism behind it. I will admit that I do work with an intentionally handicapped style by choice, however not so much that it's because I refuse to improve or can't, but mostly because it's just an "aesthetic" that kinda works with the tone of the content I mostly do, among others reasons as well (Doesn't translate too well in terms of working outside that tone though, which I understand the autismo vibe it can put out) Though that said, I will try to ramp up the quality though, simple or not I do know I have areas that need improvement regardless.
Also I do know while people like or don't like the character , the exclusive work solely on it can be boring without anything else besides it. Though future works will still be heavily about it, only because there's at least some things I want to establish with it before taking a break from it

Course, I won't discourage someone from becoming more technically skilled at something. And while there are certain elements in the art subject itself in your art I'm not particularly fond of (bellies that start out as just large, with no real shape, for instance), you're not a bad artist. A bad artist would be a boring artist, and your pieces I like to think don't fit that mark.

Wish you'd post more though, since that's a key factor to being a "boring artist", ahaha.

I'm the guy who helped convince/annoy NAC into designing Elly's superhero outfit to include latex, and those boots and gloves too. I have a medley of fundamental issues, do lemme know about them, and especially how to address them, so I can make decent work. I have a lot of stuff, more finished stuff especially, I can show if need be. I draw frequently as well as from life, but I'm not sure how to apply this to my normal drawing or how to address problems I have and can see directly.

You have a good basis for the Shygirls in this picture, their proportions aren't confusing me like in many other pictures, but just like the anon above, it's good to clean up lines that you no longer need. It makes your picture seem unnecessarily dirty, and in turn hard to discern what's what. Make a sketch picture as a guide for what you want, then be sure to use more finely detailed lines over them, removing sketch lines as you go.

The aesthetic here is a little cartoony, so you have that working for you since it means you can play with proportions, and even your line art, more loosely. Course, never let that stop you from improving on a technical level, or on universal things such as perspectives, poses, and eventually coloring and backgrounds.

I have a buncha resources that cover pretty fundamental basics and lessons about art, which I'd be more than happy to link to you if you feel that you struggle with the basics. Even more experienced artists should go over the basics every so often.

I have some more finished work and accounts and whatnot, not much better.

My issues are undoubtedly with fundamentals, i think. Simply keeping things symmetrical and consistent is a challange. I have some Loomis books, I have look at them, but I'm quite literally not sure what to do for exercises.

I do not think "cartoony" is a good thing; good work has to come before anything else. I would not hesitate to take those books.

Good to see that you're willing to admit exactly what it is you feel weakest on. And to tell you the truth, you're not alone on that. Buddy of mine, relatively well known artist on Eka's, has that occasional issue too. If the exercises are a hassle, or aren't explained well enough, you may need different resources.

How should I improve line consistency and control? As is, I already do lines in single strokes. How do I work on anatomy in general? For this I have been trying to use the "body landmarks" chart, but am not sure how to practice memorizing the bitz in it, I think it may be useful, to this end, simply to draw people with the chart for reference.
I have a serious lopsidedness problem, not sure how to tackle that either. I tend to do a lot of varied poses (breaking out of 3/4ths view especially) in my not-lewd sketchbooks but I don't seem to be able to carry this over to my lewd doodles, nor finish things in general, lewd or otherwise.

Also, I'll say this about Gregole, which I think many can agree on. They strike me as an artist that does art without knowing how to improve, or that they should. Look at some of their recent submissions, and the older ones. The less difference between now and then there is, the less the artist probably cares about their art. I mean, their colour pallet no longer consists of various, all dark mind you, shades of green, blue, purple, and black, with occasional whites mixed in. But, it feels like that's it really when it comes to noticeable improvement. Lines look the same, poses are still relatively simply, POV is 3/4ths a lot of the time, etc.

Which is all the more ironically amusing, or disheartening depending on how empathetic you are, that I remember hearing awhile ago that Gregole has a pretty fragile ego, that they had almost a nervous breakdown from hearing how many people point out one of their OC's had the same name as the foxgirl Ryla. Least, I heard about that from someone. Now, fragile ego perhaps, but evidently not fragile enough to take a closer look at their art and try and genuinely improve even if gradually over time. I feel a lotta artists are guilty of this, but with Gregole it feels more severe with.

I'd honestly love to have a sit down and talk to Gregole about this on a personal level, because I think if someone cares enough or has the drive to do well should get help and be encouraged. But at the same time I don't think an artist, who people apparently think can be an "asshole" at times according to that one anon, would be very open to honest criticisms about their art. Open to being proved wrong, but doubt they even come onto /d/.

Yeesh. Seeing as that's straight up confirmed, I have no sympathy for them then. It's one thing to get a little annoyed by something. It's another to bully someone (flashbacks to TheAllSeeingEye douch-baggery) and have your audience actually turn on you for being a shit.

I looked up that picture also, and I actually think it's somehow BETTER than most of the faces they do. Which is a really low bar to have started with anyway. Specifically in that picture, the face's perspective was borked considering how it was angled, horizontally. That's what immediately struck me, and I'm barely an artist yet could still see that.

I'm till 100% willing to have a serious chat about this sorta thing with em, but that prospect is becoming less and less likely considering how poorly they react to, well, anything really. Even more so considering they've got a poor attitude to stuff, and even require viewers to have an account on Eka's. You know, almost like a form of censorship.From criticism. An echochamber, even. I'm no "Yes Man", and I wish others wouldn't be either.


That's always a good sign for an artist. Even more so when you post a picture outright stating you made it because someone said mean things, in your eyes anyway, about you, regardless of if the words had truth or not to em, and NOT actually try to improve in any meaningful way in the end.
