Kuroyokami: Refine is supposed to come out sometime in December. They have a demo on the store but it doesn't let you get very far into the game, so I don't know where the new stuff is supposed to be. I did notice that the main theme is this awesome electric guitar thing that seems super out of place, never played the original with sound so I never noticed it before. But yeah, the music is higher quality and the girl does have voice acting for non h-scene dialogue now. The trailer shows off the new art and some of the new scenes including one tentacle bed that looks like something out of Crossing Knightmare.
It's a game about this slave trainer who wants to make his perfect girl. Also turns out her body is super receptive to the drugs so he can blow her up to pretty crazy proportions. It's linear unlike the slave games we play around here, but there are a lot of secrets to unlock and special endings. Maybe it's just me but I like giving her a giant dick becaues the guy comments on how much bigger its getting than his own, the the inspection screen gives you new text each time you hit a milestone for length, size of her balls, and the amount of semen she puts out.

Also if you had fun with that cursed futanari SRPG and you know any japanese some guys over in /hgg2d/ are working on a community translation. They already have all the UI elements and everything but they still need help translating monster descriptions and the script. Doesn't seem particularly difficult, since it's a lot of generic rpg stuff, but there's just so much left to do.

Would it be a generic 'open-world' fuck-quest or just a linear tale? I would assume the latter. As for plot, the most I could think of is a Wizard inherited a mansion, but it's in the middle of fucking nowhere and all that is around are monsters. As per choices, it would just a matter of how humanoid the monster-maids would get, either typical hypnosis to believe they're the maid, half-monster maid, or fully reformed human maid.

The author knows a basic level of twine and then asks /d/ for advice, but quickly realize that his game isn't lewd enough. Rather than simply add more choices for lewd-ness, he opts to give up and leave for tfgamessite who accept him into the hug-box before giving up after about three monsters because of the christmas season. He is never heard from again.

So far, I've got working the character generation, the basic exploring loop, rudimentary save/load functionality and a working function that generates semi unique descriptions of the character.

Even if it's shit, at least I'm learning?

Problem is, the whole thing runs in the console and is 100% text. If I want to add a gui to it in the future, or somehow include images, I'm probably fucked unless I start pretty much from scratch, aren't I?

I've got a dillema with the combat system in my game (roguelite /d/ungeon crawler). I've gone through it twice, and can't quite decide which one of them would be appreciated more.

1. Singular health/armor/shield values, so you click attack a few times and win or lose. Well, in broad strokes.

2. Location/property based damage. Say, you're fighting an orc armed with a tower shield and a halberd, and have a tough time approaching the opponent. What you do instead is you headshot him with a crossbow.

From my perspective, either is fairly straightforward to get working.

With the first option, the combat offers less choices, but may be more straightfoward to players. It does not, however, reduce the general number of actions required to finish a fight.

With the second option, the combat offers more choices, but may be more confusing to players, depending on:

1) if I set the body part strikes to chose random location.
2) or if I allow both enemies and player to chose specific locations, and make it clear to player about their best bet in any given scenario.

While the second option seems to be entirely unnecessary and is the FC stock market simulator approach to a combat in an erotic game, it conversely would allow me to implement number of interest "porn" effects directly into combat, in addition to boilerplate lust-based attacks and similar.

There actually hasn't been a ero-dev that has actually had this choice as of yet because they've all died just from programming such an engine or simply don't have the capacity to do more than "3 attack is better than 2 defense" rudimentary combat. As for reasons other than risk of dev-death, it's simply an issue of balance. Even when implemented there's always going to be some stupid 'meta' strategy, the more attempts you try to balance your 'complicated' system, the worse you'll punish exploration and reward with this system until everything is fucking useless because everything equally acts as a means of illusionary progression. Even if people abuse the shit out of a single weapon, just don't make the mistake literally everyone makes and assume because only a single path is taken that must mean the game is somehow broken, just buff everything else in ways it can't provide normally, such as range or speed. There is nothing wrong with all-rounders.

Explained a tad poorly; not saying balance is bad, but balance shouldn't be a priority over simply allowing players to develop niches within the system and convincing other players that the supposed way is superior. Merely having specialist weapons being better for certain situations over the general lazy all-rounders is good enough. Bonus points if you just add more methods to avoid unwanted combat to cater to those specialist weapons where all-rounders may be forced to fight it out.

Also; after playing MGQ it just made me realize just how much I hated grinding just to fight a boss for the porn. I don't care about the illusion of progression, you can just do away with it if the combat is solid.

Yeah, the balance plan is to be rather laid back, and buff the alternatives, instead of nerfing potency of something. Have spent enough time in games where balance efforts hav made everything underwhelming.

Given that the major part of the game will be procedurally generated content, I can as well just take a data-driven approach to balance.

Say, our brave adventurer did eliminate orcs camping at the Azure Glade, using weapons coated with paralysing poison. Tough shit, an orc scout returning late from a recon mission did witness the slaughter, and hurried to fallback camp in the Forest of Shadows. Hence, arriving at the orc camp there, our hero finds himself in a situation, where some of the enemies have antidotes to the poison, and thus is inadvertedly forced to alternate their tactics to some extent. For example, now it's a gamble if an easy strike to the chest will paralyze the target, or if you were better off trying to cleave the head or an arm off. This could feel real shitty to the player, so I could signpost the change in balance with something like "As you slice the throat of the paralysed orc shaman, you hear a crackling noise. Lifting your eyes, you see an orc running in the direction of the Forest of Shadows raider outpost." and then maybe throw in an option to try to shoot the orc in the back, to avoid the news spreading.

Naturally, all of this would be added incrementally. I'm rather intimately familiar with the dev-death syndrome from my daily experiences, so I intend to take an FCdev approach to h-game development, releasing small and frequent updates. That benefits both the developers and the players, in my opinion.

As for all-arounding in general, seeing you mention it, the other time I was thinking about the class-based approach versus the generalist approach. I ended up with discard class-based approach alltogether, and giving players just a range of traits to select - gated on level basis to preserve some form of balance and pacing, but not restricting to taking more than one single level trait, or no traits in one level at all. Why bother with Advanced Baking perk (just an example) if you improve your Anal Mastery further. There ought to be better ways to generate replayability than by just forcing multiple playthroughs for specific perks. Heck, a maximum level restriction will work better than that, since players have more freedom to choose who they want to be.

Specialist weapons and approaches might take some time, I want to straighten out core gameplay and mechanics first. The sure, some stealth mechanic, some charisma way to fuck your way to your objective without combat, and so on.

The main division in playstyle, at first, will be lewd vs non-lewd. Take lethal weapons, and you can kill enemies. Take non-lethal weapons, and you can put them permanently out of combat. There will be no necro content, so the first one is intended to be the path for taking no chances with losing your virginity, whereas the other one opens you up for lewd possibilities.

Similarly with enemies, there will be those with lethal and non-lethal weapons, with majority preference for the latter and clear signposting of the former, so you know when you can actually die.

There are so many ways around death that are extremely /d/. You don't need to literally murder everything, just render them to states they cannot combat you via mindbreak/transformation, there are means of plot that can discourage murder too. Unfortunately, it throws all manner of conventional combat out the window, you would have to be an absolute madman that only favors a complex grappling/magic system instead of using reliant attack and defence mechanics. We've already had a dev die trying this.

There is some massive jarring between using sharp as fuck blades and then fucking them like nothing happened, but people have forgiven less just for the fact the game was erotic.

What is the point of bunch of JavaScript libraries if your skill tree ends up as a spinner? What is the point of an in-game manual that you think is shitty if your own code is not commented?

That is what happens when you start doing everything at once. Half of the things break and you tilt, and it looks like garbage fit only to be made fun of. There's no point in physically accurate anatomy model for player character if you have yet to deploy unknown amount of fixes of unknow size to prevent the player character from being able to craft furniture during combat.

I was wondering if you can give some feedback on some of the things I have implemented:
Added a button to put set your makeup so you don't have to click "put on __ makeup". Now I added a "do the works" button so it will comb your hair, put on lip balm, and put on the preset makeup you chose. This cuts down on some of the repetition (I know its not much, but every click removed counts).

I am tasked with revamping the relationship system. So far, I have added "preferences" to boyfriends. Now they have preferences for different parts of your clothes, the amount of tats, piercings, lip size, breasts, hair, weight, and though no events for yet: IQ. All of these have already or (in the case of IQ) will have events involving him pressuring you to "change" something about you. This could be him wanting you to dye your hair and taking you to a salon, to if he is rich paying for you to get a tit job.

What else do you think would be nice to add? (Just a note: Since its a group project I have to conform to some rules: No outragious content: this means that I can't add a thing that involves you getting turned into an inanimate latex doll, but lets say you think there should be a kink that you could get that makes your character feel uncomfortable if she is not wearing latex clothes.)

Cheat Engine, the values are 8x+6, ie, 1 is 14, 2 is 22... I had this idea for a game where you play as a female warrior. You're sent to deal with this evil wizard, and while you're fighting him he casts a spell and transports you to his trap-and-enemy filled tower. He's at the top, you start at the bottom. Standard stuff.

The gimmick is that he's all about mental attacks. So the first room is a pretty simple puzzle, and the text gives you plenty of helpfully highlighted hints. But as you get hornier and your mind becomes clouded/corrupted, you get less and less hints and more "noise"-- bad thoughts that represent mental damage, random text highlighted instead of hints, stuff like that.

The only problem was figuring out how to inject "noise" into the text in a semi-random way. Semi-random, because truly random YOU SO HORNIES in the middle of a paragraph would probably just be annoying after a while.

I've put that one on the backburner right now to focus on simpler ideas, but I do want to come back to it if I ever learn how to code good.

I've never played a game that made me angry enough to ragequit. To be honest I've only ever gotten mad at two lewd games, No Haven and Defiler Wing.

The only way I could see that working is by writing several descriptions for every hint, decreasing in helpfulness with lust. For example, the hint for a puzzle could be in the form of a mural on a nearby wall. At zero lust you would get a purely academic description of what the figures in the mural were doing and how it related to a possible puzzle solution, at max lust it would just be obsessive descriptions of the sexual features of the figures in the mural with only the barest mention of how it related to the puzzle solution.

Or you go into a room and there are some non-hostile lizardpeople and a gap that leads to some optional reward. At zero lust you can work with the lizard people to cross the gap, at intermediate levels you have a harder time convincing them because you can't stop thinking about wanting to fuck them, at max you can only beg them to fuck you.

The difficult part I think would be making it so people couldn't just decrease their lust somehow, check the non-horny hint, then reload. This wouldn't be a problem with the lizard people example because your ability to solve the problem would directly correlate to your current lust, but with the mural example you would have to make sure there was no way to alleviate lust in the same room.

See I think there's a difference between letting people cheat, which is fine, and encouraging them to cheat, which just trivializes the experience. The line of what is "encouraging" cheating is different for everybody, but in general I think the easier you make it to cheat the more likely people are to do it. This is especially true if you can just load a savefile to go back to a "non-cheat" experience. That's why everybody and their brother savescummed Fallout 3's chance-based dialogue choices- because the quicksave/load button was right there, and if they decided they didn't like cheating they could go right back.

The mockup I made was indeed a mural puzzle, haha. Four paintings that you had to figure out the order to. If you stared too long at some of the more sexual drawings, it might cause lust. Masturbating to reduce lust was generally an option but could be dangerous in some rooms (like in the mockup there was a cowardly slime monster that might make a move on you if you were too distracted).

So far the only decent thing I've played with weight gain is Axugaem, but it's really not sexy. It's someone's autistic minecraft based OC adventure with tons of stuffing, eating, talking about getting fat, chubby girls, and weight gain. Actually it's suprisingly good, but no one is going to get off to it.

Some folks on bbwchan are working on stuff but it's just short cyoa stuff about finding secrets to see how fat you can make a girl by the end of the story. There was supposed to be weightgain with that expansion school game but I think that's dead in the water after its first demo.
