Not really, I'd make the claim that books sold outside Japan have a FAR higher chance of ending up on sadpanda than books that aren't. I haven't seen a lot of the JP only books on sad panda compared to the EN+JP ones and the majority of uploaders seem to be western. Heck, I have friends who actively go to Japan to mail the books back for scanning.

I think the reputation is that your books might get pirated if they're JP only, but they WILL get pirated if they're sold to western countries. When that happens you can say goodbye to both Western AND Japanese sales if you're a good artist. Better to have a lower chance of piracy so you can still sell to Japanese instead of trashing your Japanese sales for a risky Western venture.

However for this one particular artist I am getting the impression that it is more of a personal ethics issue. Kaname just absolutely refuses to have any works "dirtied" with a translation. I normally would just leave a person like this alone however this artist is also involved with a few other collaborative works with other artists. These works are very difficult to come by. Well, I'm going to end votes here. So, looks like I'll be writing three stories on:
Monster Musume - Centorea
Overwatch - Mercy
Pokemon - Dawn

I have yet to think of a plot for Monster Musume and Overwatch (If you have any ideas, then please, feel free to tell me!) Although, for Pokemon, I've decided to try having Dawn eat her own Pokemon. Thanks to everyone who responded; even though each answer was different (and some contradicted others) they were helpful. The wide range of responses suggests there's an audience for all kinds of different characters.

As part of trying to mentally picture a character, I ended up writing a faux magazine interview between the pred (presently unnamed) and a hapless journalist.
