Yeah, the CGs from Ochiko were mostly shit, and even Kanehebi didn't show up. Their CGs were majority shit, only the non-size dude actually pulled off the great ones. There were some gud minigames though, but yeah overall just a massive disappointment and letdown.
They really need to up the ante on those CGs, you can really tell Shrink High was a labor of love compared to Gaiden, where it was just "Give us cash and we'll give you absolute shit in return" (not that anyone paid for it but you get the idea)
Its insane how they managed to make less with more.
This CG from almost a DECADE ago beats out the majority of fucking Gaiden CGs (at least from Kana and Ochiko)

I have to admit, from a "practical" standpoint, I like Little Snatcher more. I'm just glad they eliminated the grinding from the game, which doesn't break SH by any means, it just makes it a bit more tedious. The lack of fighting allows Little Snatcher to place you straight into the action.

I also think it's perfectly possible to create a size "game" in the manner of Little Snatcher with a compelling story. If anything, Little Snatcher's gameplay let's you focus more on the characters, since you're not plodding through random encounters.

One of the strengths of the first game was that the art was mostly consistent, because Manzi drew the majority of it. The few pictures from other artists just looked out of place.

Shrink High at least felt like a genuine rpg game to the point that I enjoyed it mostly for the rpg elements with the cgs being the icing on the cake. I rather enjoyed WORKING for the scenes and yes that included GRINDING for them.

Now after I finished the game then I proceeded to use the CGS as.....I wanted or even loaded saves with my favorite CGS and worked from there.

Little Snatcher is nice for the fact that it just throws you right into the content and that's fine too.

The fact of the matter is, you're full of shit, and you're worth being ignored by your own admission, as it shows you haven't played the game, and are merely acting on hearsay of others. The absolute fact of the matter is that scrolling through the CGs are *not* the best way for them to be experienced. They were meant to be experienced with *context*. Whereas that is not the case at all with Little Snatcher, and it can be experienced just fine through videos. The only reason to *play* it would be to have slightly more control, which is fair enough, but the fact of the matter is, the game as a whole has no depth.
Call SH's plot fanfic-tier if you wish, its your opinion to have and I disagree; I found it fun and enjoyable, with enough depth that I could get through the issues that it *did* have. Its far from perfect, but it has infinitely more depth than LS.
You're also using hyperbole to make your own situation look worse.

Were you victimized by the fact that you had to actually *do* stuff to get to better parts? Do you also yell at action movies while you wait for the explosions and gunfights to begin? Yeah, there's unpleasant parts, but they're necessary for experiencing the game to its fullest.
Call it what you will, but Shrink High is infinitely more memorable than any other size game, despite its unfortunately true flaws of having you actually do things to build the background and setting, and I found the fights charming; the enemies and weapons were novel enough, and they had a fair justification for being so difficult: You're tiny as HECK.

I won't say something as retarded as "Shrink High is better than LS" because they are two different things altogether, but if you wanna shit on the former while pretending like your tastes in the latter are actually objectively desired by people who play these types of games, I suppose that's your perogative.

I think that Little Snatcher just plays with typical JRPG elements a bit differently. I like how you need to solve your problems and progress through exploring and learning about the game world.

It's not the same kind of work as Shrink High, but its work none the less. I guess it's just easier to follow a guide for Little Snatcher, since the challenge is just in figuring out how to progress.

Maybe because build-up+context is the way Shrink High gets people off? Backstories and characters not being faceless (or at least having good situations in context when they were) were how Shrink High does business. It sounds like you were mad that it wasn't just a nonstop image set being thrown at you, but you can't seem to realize why that, if that were the case, Shrink High wouldn't have any value in terms of being as memorable or as time-standing as it did.

Not that guy but some of my alltime favorite games are eroge, which I love for their plot and gameplay. The porn is either an awesome bonus or ignorable altogether. There is no inherent problem with characters not being faceless and actual gameplay being a feature that exists to build up to the porn.

The problem is that Shrink High is not one of these eroge since its gameplay and plot are ludicrously fuckin bad. This is not an insane or outlandish opinion for people to have and more people think this way than you seem to believe..

The gameplay is a fair point, but, considering it was made in RPGMaker nearly a decade ago, it was very fappable and great for its time (I mean, feet *and* ass crush as part of normal battle scenes? P. gud), and the minigames *for its time* were innovative.
Yeah, I *am* getting a bit hyperbolic in my defense of the game, but when people are monumentally thick and present their points as if they were the gravest sins a game could ever commit, what do you expect? What I *could* do, is just ignore them because its an 8-9+ year old game and just let them whine forever about they somehow got cheated from it, despite it being free to play as well, but this is more fun, lel.
Either way, your points *are* fair, but again, the game is over 9 fuggin' years old, and those points are largely subjective and the gameplay point is hardly fair, now that we have what we have in terms of game design.

I disagree. Yeah, there *are* some parts that I think would've been nicer without, than with (mobs are annoying in literally every game ever). But I feel those "flaws" do give a fair amount of ambiance to the game. You have to slog through an enormous amount of shit (logically, and at one point literally) to get through certain parts because the game puts you in a plotline where situations would be exceptionally difficult; while I admit streamlining the process might've been nicer overall, I feel that where it is currently, giving fairly difficult places to shove through with enough hawtness sprinkled in-between to keep you going until the literally god-tier encounters with certain girls, was a fine enough system for what it was. I also feel that if they had put too much hawt content between each point, that it might've cheapened the effect, y'know?

To clarify, the RPG aspects also provide a good reference point for the game's logical progression. For example: when you start out shrunken, you're struggling to fight out literally ants and rats, and your only sequences involving giant girls involve either running away, dying, or handily peeping on them. Its not until later on in the game that you realize how far you've come when you're taking on veritable titans at your size, surviving (or not, if you want those sweet, sweet CGs) stompings and sittings. Do ya get what I'm saying? If every encounter was a giant girl, they'd have had to get a lot more creative, the plot would've been completely different (and wouldn't have worked with the setting at all) and well, it just wouldn't be Shrink High. I dunno call me weird but I feel that, thanks to its RPG elements, clunky as they were, and admittedly now outdated, allowed it to even possess an identity. When I first played this game, I admittedly hadn't played a good JRPG in AGES beforehand(which is probably why I could tolerate it so much; also the puzzles were above LttP-tier, which is insane),so the experience was... fresh? I dunno. Anyway, I imagine you can understand what I'm saying. I don't play "vanilla" h-games, so I can't speak for those, but in terms of size games, this is probably the only one that had a mix of plot that had a high level of depth (though its quality could be argued, at least its present), a HUGE collection of high-quality and vastly varying CGs, characters with great personalities for the setting, and overall a bunch of content and huge amounts of effort clearly being put in. Imagine the probably hundreds of references being made to size works in the game now, just in the weapons/equipment/mobs list alone, not to mention the ones present in dialogue, and the small easter eggs in overworld (I find it a bit too amusing how many size mangas and doujins they list by full name out th
