I don't do the bar scene (too cheap) but in the past, I started at anime conventions--then moved up to parties--then karaoke and arcade adventures--and always trap when buying female stuff that would be too difficult to explain as "This is for my girlfriend." Yeah, they sell fake ponytails you can easily clip into hair if it's long enough to put at least a small chunk of your natural shit in an elastic band, so the clip can hold on to your head. I bought two in my exact hair color in this store in a mall I used to frequent where the girls there knew I was into CD, so they helped me match the color and see how long, thick or curly I wanted them. They also gave me the silicone detangling spray that works wonders. But yeah, they are ridiculously easy to wear, and this is coming from a guy who can't wear most headbands because they give me migraines. I think they were about 20/25 bucks each, so it's not a terrible investment--I love using them as pigtails, and will continue to do so until I become a hag.

People are a lot more rude online than IRL. I only go places I consider safe and populated by enough people to never be alone with random creepers/bashers. Still, the worst I get is the occasional staring, dirty look, and one time when I was talking someone walking by went "Was that chick a dude?" --I'm already used to people looking at me dirty, but nobody has ever directly confronted me. It's a lot more than just fap bait to me. It's the one way I really feel like I can talk to people and affect them in positive ways--the one way my true self comes out and is praised, not scoffed.
